Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI assess the throwing and catching skill of the student and design the lesson appropriately. It's important to be as safe as possible when learning to catch.
I start with safe tennis and rubber balls if the student needs to gain confidence.
Hitting starts with a tee session and then some fun live batting practice with training balls.
I then give them simple homework exercises to try at home before the next lesson.
Lesson 11+Lessons become more varied and intense depending on which areas the student needs to work on. More specific drills appear with an emphasis on self improvement techniques.
Lesson 4-10We move on to more complicated drills that build on what they've learned. I introduce game type situations into the drills as we move along. If a season is starting soon, I explain rules and show them how to play each position. Baserunning and footwork are emphasized.
Lesson 2-3I get into using the proper motions for throwing, catching, and hitting. I introduce simple and fun new drills for each skill.
Youth players
Working with kidsMy specialty is working with kids and teenagers from beginner to intermediate. I make the practices fun and adjust to their level.
Working with teenagersMy specialty is working with kids and teenagers. I make the practices fun and interesting to keep them motivated. I work to prepare their attitudes for team play.
What you need to bringGlove, bat, helmet, fielding mask (softball), water.
What I can bringI bring hitting nets, balls, tee, bases, extra gloves and bats, and various hitting and fielding aides.
