Your first lesson1. Mini-Lesson: Hitting Approach – "Hunt One Pitch"
Focus: Mental hitting strategy.
Teaching Point: Teach players to “hunt” one pitch in one location until they get two strikes.
Drill:
In BP or tee work, have the hitter call out their “hunted” pitch/location (e.g., fastball middle-in).
Only swing if it matches – builds discipline and confidence.
Lesson 11+4. Mini-Lesson: Baserunning IQ – "Read the Ball"
Focus: Decision-making on base hits.
Teaching Point: First step is a read—ball on the ground = go, ball in the air = freeze.
Drill:
Simulate hits from home plate and place runners at 1st or 2nd.
Coach yells or hits balls; runners must react accordingly in real time.
Lesson 4-103. Mini-Lesson: Pitching Focus – "Finish Forward"
Focus: Proper follow-through for velocity and control.
Teaching Point: A good finish means the pitcher ends balanced and facing the plate.
Drill:
Have pitchers throw flat-ground pitches and freeze the finish for 3 seconds.
Emphasize chest over knee and balanced posture.
Lesson 2-32. Mini-Lesson: Fielding Fundamentals – "Triangle Base"
Focus: Infield ready position.
Teaching Point: Feet form a triangle with the ball at the top; glove out front, eyes on the ball.
Drill:
Short-hop glove work from 10 feet away using tennis balls or whiffle balls.
Emphasize soft hands and quiet feet.
