Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson would be mainly getting to know the student and what they know already and need to learn. We would start off very basic, like throwing and hitting. For hitting, we would probably be doing mostly tee work.
Lesson 4-10These lessons would again expand on the previous things, increasing distance for throwing again and moving to live pitching for hitting.
Lesson 2-3The following lessons would work on building upon the first lesson, like throwing further and moving to soft toss.
Youth players
Working with kidsWith kids, I would spend more time on the basics and take things slower. For baseball, understanding the basics is especially crucial before moving on.
Working with teenagersFor teenagers, I would make sure they know how to listen to their bodies. For example, if their arm hurts one day, we'd focus more on hitting then throwing. Teenagers are at the age where they should know when they are sore and should be able to communicate that. But I will also look out for signs to ensure they stay healthy.
