Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe’re going to focus on the fundamentals. We’re going to see where what our base level is, and work through and communicate what we’re going to need to focus on going forward.
From a hitting perspective- we’re going to be utilizing tee drills, and front toss drills.
From a fielding perspective- we’re going to do a lot of work without our glove.
Lesson 11+Maintenance. At this point, we might not need so much instruction, but we want to make sure we stay consistent in how we train and continue to perfect the craft. Any small adjustments that need to be made will be addressed.
Lesson 4-10Repetition. Hammering home what we’ve been working on the previous few weeks until we reach a level of comfort with the athlete and a level of confidence in what we’ve been training on.
Lesson 2-3The second and third lessons will focus on what we identify as the main training point from our first meeting together. With a better understanding of what we need to focus on, we can game plan lessons to cater towards these areas of hitting/fielding that we want to improve.
Youth players
Working with kidsFinding fun ways to keep them engaged. Avoid too much talking and incorporating ways to teach while getting them moving and familiar with movements of the game.
Working with teenagersFocus on the mental side of baseball as well as the physical side. The biggest thing I wish I understood as a teenager was that baseball is HARD! It’s okay to struggle, and you want to avoid becoming a shell of yourself because you think you’re not successful.
