About your baseball coach

Having spent the last 20 years on the diamond, I've developed a passion for fostering a love for baseball in players of all ages and skill levels. I have been coaching players ages 3-18 for the last 7 years after finishing my collegiate baseball career in 2017. In that time, I have learned how to connect and effectively coach children and young adults of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds. My coaching philosophy centers on building a strong foundation of fundamental skills and mechanics in an effort to allow each player to reach their maximum potential. My main goal is to improve on-field success while creating a fun and supportive learning environment. Everyone has dreams, it’s my job to help turn them into reality.

Will Basinger, Age 18
“As Peter’s younger cousin, watching him excel in baseball made me want to follow in his footsteps. He has been both my favorite and my best coach since I was 5 years old. Thanks to him, I was recently offered a full ride baseball scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University!”
Brett LePlante, Age 25
“I learned more about the fundamentals of baseball in one summer working with Peter than I did in my entire little league, middle school and high school playing career combined. I saw instant results in my swing, throwing velocity, and fielding range.”
Grant Walker, Age 7
“Over the course of just one summer, my son went from being unsure about baseball to being obsessed with it. Coach Peter’s hitting, fielding and pitching drills worked wonders for Grant’s performance and overall confidence.”
Will Stevens, Age 10
“In 2022, my son was batting last on his little league team and on the verge of giving up on the sport for good. By the summer of 2023, he was the best hitter on his team, and was selected to the Fort Hunt Little League All-Star team. The biggest improvement that I have seen is my son’s overall enjoyment when playing the game he loves. I credit all of it to coach Peter!”
Cole Howard, Age 14
“In my freshman year of high school, I was a utility player on the junior varsity team. In my sophomore year, I was the starting right fielder on the varsity team. Coach Peter’s drills for tracking fly balls helped me become the best defensive outfielder on my team.”

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn the first session I would like to get a full understanding for exactly what the player hopes to achieve in his or her baseball career by having a short 5-10 minute conversation gauging the player’s interest levels and passion for the sport . This will help me formulate the proper lesson plan to achieve all of the player’s goals moving forward. We will follow with hitting drills with a batting tee and throwing drills to determine the player’s baseline skill levels.
Lesson 11+After lesson 10, we will begin to focus more on the mental aspect of the game. Teaching young players to calm their mind when playing is essential to on-field success. In these lessons, we will go over situational baseball and proper strategies for overcoming obstacles and challenges within the game. The final 25 minutes of each lesson will consist solely of situational practice.
Lesson 4-10Position-related defensive drills will be the primary focus of lessons 4-10. Infielders will do ground ball and pop fly work. Outfielders will work on tracking fly balls and generating power from their legs when throwing using the crow hop method. Pitchers will work on PFP, or pitcher fielding practice, along with learning proper mechanics. Catchers will work on blocking drills, framing, and throwing to bases. ALL BEGINNING PLAYERS WILL PRACTICE AT ALL POSITIONS. The final 25 minutes of each lesson will be solely devoted to hitting and bunting practice unless more defensive work is requested.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2 and 3 will solely be devoted to hitting and bunting practice. We will begin by going over the proper hitting mechanics as well as what tendencies to avoid in order to prevent slumps at the plate. This will be followed by hitting off of a batting tee and slowly graduating to hitting and bunting off of a live arm.
