About your baseball coach

My name is Ryan Rembisz, and I am currently a minor league free agent who just finished his first professional season this summer after pitching 4 years of NCAA Division 1 baseball for the University of Portland. I am known for throwing the 21st perfect game in NCAA D1 history this past season, being a 3x WCL player of the week, a 1st team all-WCC academic team recipient, an All-WCC second team recipient, and leading the WCC in innings pitched this year. I am 23 years old, currently training this offseason for my next pro contract, and love teaching the art of pitching to anyone that wants to learn. Through my 5 years of being a high level pitcher throwing 100’s of innings while jumping from 90-94 mph, I have never had an arm injury. I believe that preparing the body to handle the throw is 75% of the battle when it comes to pitching injury free, and that recovery is another 20%. I can work with all ages and levels of the game, and I understand how to adjust my approach given nuances in league, ability, and goal. Arm health is the number one priority for pitchers these days, as the key to throwing harder is simply staying healthy for long enough to get there in my opinion. A standard 1-on-1 lesson will look like stretching, throwing prep, catch play, bullpen/flatground work, post-throw, conditioning, and mobility. My goal is to educate my students on what they need, their deficiencies and strengths, and going over their individual technique and keys to success, to show them the bigger picture of how to effectively train pitching so that they can monitor themselves autonomously.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn the first lesson I plan on mainly talking, getting to know you athletically, what your goals are, where you’re at, and seeing what level of fundamentals you have down. Then I plan on taking you through a light warmup, playing catch with you, doing a movement test, and telling you what I think you should start focusing on for next time.
Lesson 11+This is where we start analyzing performance on the field, looking at how the season is going, and managing workload/stress on arm and body and coming up with solutions for any issues that arise during the season.
Lesson 4-10This is where we start achieving progress, developing goals for the season, and start really pushing ourselves to get to a place of true improvement.
Lesson 2-3Next lesson is where we start getting a routine down, start making our way to the mound and seeing pitching-specific drills and mechanical analysis to start doing. This is also when I incorporate conditioning into the mix.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe go over your metrics, velocity, goals, slow motion videos of you pitching in game, and I merely observe your warmup routine as you get ready to throw and we play catch. I simply observe.
Lesson 11+At this point you are in season and we will be meeting on call to discuss your outings, concerns, and workload and adapt to different modalities from there.
Lesson 4-10We start setting weekly and monthly goals for the upcoming season and start monitoring progress. I will have you reporting your lifts, diet, sleep, and overall body health to me and we will start a full ramp up phase to get you throwing harder by season.
Lesson 2-3This is where I have my suggestions for you ready, we start tweaking things in your routine, feel, and start looking more at why your ball does the things it does.

Youth players
Working with kidsI make sure instead of focusing on the granular details of pitching to focus on making them fall in love with the idea pitching. These lessons are fun as I keep it light hearted, set up entertaining and dynamic challenges like hitting a tee with the ball or trying to hit me in the chest from far away. I am just here to teach them the basics of the throw, and get them moving around with lots of games and activities related to pitching.

Working with teenagersIt really depends on what level your teenager is at. I have taught some teenagers intent on becoming the best and wanting to dominate at their level, and I have taught others that are just doing it because they like baseball as a seasonal sport. There is nothing wrong with either, and I will ensure to gauge the level of commitment and dedication they want to put in and adjust accordingly. If someone wants to just throw strikes so they can get on the field more I’m all about making that happen. If someone is trying to go play for LSU and be the next Paul Skenes, I am also all in on that goal as well!

What you need to bringBring a glove, a hat, tennis shoes, cleats if you have them, water, and any type of warmup device that you prefer to use.

What I can bringI have a Pocket Radar for velocity, all types of bands, plyo balls, and baseballs supplied.
