Ali Rasch
Liz was great. She was knowledgeable and broke down skills in a way that was easy to understand while always focusing on fundamentals first!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFocus: Fundamentals, fun, and comfort with the ball Warm-Up: Light jogging, dynamic stretching Skills: Dribbling with dominant hand Chest and bounce passes Basic shooting form (no hoop at first, then close-range) Games/Drills: Dribble relays, passing circles, form shooting
Lesson 11+Focus: Game understanding, confidence Skills: Reading the defense Pick-and-roll basics Transition offense Scrimmages: Half-court and full-court with coaching breaks Film sessions (if applicable): Self-review of drills or games
Lesson 4-10Focus: Foundation for team play Skills: Layups both sides Defensive stance & slides Simple offense spacing Rebounding fundamentals Drills/Games: 1v1, 3-man weave intro, shell defense
Lesson 2-3Focus: Ball-handling, movement, footwork Skills: Dribbling with both hands Layups from one side Triple threat position Pivoting Drills: Zigzag dribble, cone layups, pivot-pass combos

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonEvaluate skill level. Get a feel for habits, effort, and weaknesses. Begin with high-tempo drills to assess conditioning and ball control.
Lesson 11+Tailor to player’s role/position. Emphasize game planning, playmaking under duress, counter moves, and leadership mindset. Include situational breakdowns (e.g., beating traps, closing out games), and develop a routine for pre-game prep and recovery.
Lesson 4-10Simulate game actions: contested layups, pick-and-roll reads (with coach mimicking defender), and tight window decision-making. Train at game pace, with fatigue, and mix in short bursts of 1v1.
Lesson 2-3Focus on sharpening individual skills under pressure (e.g., contested shooting, quick decisions) and introduce higher-level footwork and off-ball movement.

Youth players
