About your basketball coach

With over 20 years of soccer experience and more than 8 years of competitive basketball, including collegiate-level play, I bring a deep understanding of both games to every coaching role. I’ve spent the past two years coaching command level United States Navy teams, sharpening my ability to lead, motivate, and develop athletes in high-performance environments. Additionally, I have a year of experience coaching children ages 1 to 9, focusing on foundational skills, coordination, and fostering a love for sport at an early age. My passion lies in building strong athletes through discipline, teamwork, and a positive, growth-oriented mindset

Beginner training plan
Your first lesson1. Warm Welcome & Introductions (5–10 mins) Greet each player with energy and positivity. Introduce yourself briefly (share a fun fact or why you love the sport). Let each player say their name and favorite thing about sports (or favorite player). 🎯 Goal: Build rapport and comfort. 2. Clear Expectations & Rules (5 mins) Go over basic ground rules: listening, respect, having fun, and always trying your best. Keep it simple and friendly (especially with kids). 3. Dynamic Warm-Up (5–10 mins) Soccer: light jogging, high knees, butt kicks, skipping, dribbling while moving. Basketball: jogging, defensive slides, arm circles, basic ball-handling while moving. 🎯 Goal: Get their bodies moving and blood flowing. 4. Skill Introduction (15–20 mins) Pick one or two simple skills to focus on. Soccer Ideas: Dribbling with both feet. Passing with the inside of the foot. Basketball Ideas: Basic dribbling (right and left hand). Chest and bounce passes. Use games to teach skills. E.g., “Red Light, Green Light” for soccer dribbling or “Dribble Freeze Tag” in basketball. 5. Mini-Games or Drills (10–15 mins) Keep it low-pressure and fun. Let them use the skill in a playful setting. Avoid too much standing around — keep everyone moving and involved. 6. Cool Down & Review (5–10 mins) Light jogging, stretches, breathing. Ask questions: “What was your favorite part?” “What’s one thing you learned today?” 7. Positive Send-Off Thank them for their effort. Highlight something they did well. Let them know what’s coming next time (to build excitement).
Lesson 11+Teach the basic positions and responsibilities on the field/court.
Lesson 4-10We would be moving from foundation to development, keeping it engaging while gradually introducing more advanced skills, teamwork, and real-game concepts.
Lesson 2-3Reinforce foundational skills (dribbling and passing), introduce control, and begin team-awareness.
