With a beginner, Iβll definitely start with how to dribble the ball, having control over the ball, looking up while dribbling the ball, helping them understand basic violations like double dribble, pivot on one foot etc
2 and 3 will be more about correct shooting form, and how to do proper lay ups. A bit of defense.
Now we do basic defensive stances. How to play proper defense without committing fouls.
The rest will be just moving one step ahead of each fundamental skill. Normal pounds will become cross, between, behind and so forth. Right hand layups with addition to left hand layups, going bit advance each time the players show improvement
With advance players, their workouts depend upon what position they play, what are their strengths and weaknesses. I would start with some advance workouts like, shooting off catch, dribbling, and screens for shooters, advanced finishing techniques for slashers like veer finish, hooks, floaters etc.
Here I will do more one on oneβs with players, but keeping it advance like only 3 dribbles, scoring in time limits etc.
This is where I teach them real game scenarios like how to play off ball, because thatβs what a lot of players donβt focus on and they need to understand that if they wanna play at a higher level, they wonβt get 10 dribbles like James harden, so quick decision making and playing off ball.
More advance footwork, in game scenarios, conditioning.
