Advanced training plan
Your first lessonIdentify strengths, weaknesses, and reinforce core fundamentals. Warm-Up: Dynamic stretching, footwork drills, and ball-handling routine. Assessment: Shooting form, dribbling speed, passing accuracy, defensive positioning. Skill Tune-Up: Form shooting (1-hand, close-range to mid-range). Stationary and moving ball handling (crossover, between legs, behind back). Defensive slide technique & reaction drills. Scrimmage Situations: 1v1, 3v3 controlled situations.
Lesson 11+Apply all skills under full-game pressure & develop mental resilience. High-Intensity Situational Play: Close-game scenarios, fast-break decision-making. Clutch shooting drills (down by 2, last 10 seconds). Physical & Mental Endurance: High-intensity sprints with skill execution under fatigue. Mindfulness, visualization, and pressure simulations. Final 5v5 Scrimmage: Full-court competitive play with real-game coaching. Individual feedback and growth plan.
Lesson 4-10Increase shooting efficiency, range, and shot creation. Form Work & Range Extension: One-motion shooting mechanics. Mid-range and three-point shooting under fatigue. Off-Dribble Shooting: Step-back, side-step, pull-ups. Floaters, runners, off-hand finishing. Game Situations: 2v2 or 3v3 live scoring drills. “Make or Get Off” shooting challenges.
Lesson 2-3Master control under pressure and attack off the dribble. Stationary & On-the-Move Dribbling: Heavy ball work, quick dribbles, combo moves. Full-court dribbling with defenders (1-on-1 pressure). Break the Press: Handling double-teams and traps. Escape dribbles & pass fakes. Game Situations: Live 1v1 full-court ball-handling drills. Half-court setup against an aggressive defender.

Youth players
Working with kidsPraise effort more than skill—keep them excited. Use challenges like “Who can dribble the longest?” or “Who can make the most layups in 30 seconds?”make drills into games. Focus on basic dribbling, passing, and shooting. Show, don’t just tell—demonstrate movements clearly. Break things down into easy steps. For example, for shooting: “Bend your knees, aim, follow through.”Celebrate small improvements.

Working with teenagersBegin with a quick icebreaker or a fun warm-up drill to get them engaged. Show enthusiasm—teens feed off energy, so if you're hyped, they'll be more into it. Teens love competition, so add mini-games, challenges, or team drills to keep things exciting. Try small 1v1, 2v2, or timed shooting challenges. Show that you respect them, and they'll respect you back. If possible, connect with them on their level—maybe mention an NBA player they like or ask about their favorite teams.
