About your football coach

Great athletes aren’t born, they’re developed through quality coaching, consistent fundamentals, and confidence built one rep at a time. As a licensed Health & PE teacher, former collegiate defensive back, and experienced football coach, I’m passionate about helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field. I specialize in working with athletes ages 10–17, providing instruction in youth football, flag football, defensive back development, football fundamentals, and speed and agility training. Girls flag football is one of my specialties, and I take pride in helping female athletes develop the skills, confidence, and football IQ to compete at a high level. Whether you’re just getting started or preparing for your next season, every lesson is tailored to your goals, experience, and position. My coaching philosophy is simple: master the fundamentals, compete with confidence, and never stop improving. Every session is designed to develop technique, football IQ, decision making, and athletic confidence in a positive, high-energy environment where athletes are challenged to be their best. My goal is for every athlete to leave each lesson more confident, more disciplined, and more prepared than when they arrived. Experience & Credentials * Licensed Health & Physical Education Teacher * M.S. in Sport Coaching * Former Collegiate Defensive Back * Middle School Head Football Coach * Travel Flag Football Defensive Coordinator * High School Football Coach

Beginner training plan
Your first trainingThe first lesson is all about building a foundation. I’ll take time to get to know the athlete, understand their goals, evaluate their current skill level, and identify strengths and areas for improvement. From there, we’ll focus on proper athletic stance, movement mechanics, footwork, ball handling, and football fundamentals while building confidence through positive coaching. Every athlete leaves with a clear plan for improvement. My goal is simple: teach first, challenge second, and help every athlete leave more confident than when they arrived.
Training 2-3Once the foundation is established, we begin developing position-specific skills through structured drills and competitive situations. Athletes will improve footwork, speed, change of direction, reaction time, football IQ, and technique while learning how each skill translates to game performance. Every drill has a purpose, and athletes will understand not just what they’re doing, but why.
Training 4-10As athletes become more comfortable with the fundamentals, training becomes faster and more game-like. Sessions focus on decision making, competition, and applying skills under pressure. We continue refining technique while introducing advanced concepts specific to the athlete’s position, helping them build confidence and consistency.
Training 11+By this stage, training is fully individualized. Sessions are built around the athlete’s goals, position, strengths, and areas for improvement. We focus on mastering technique, increasing football IQ, developing confidence under pressure, and preparing athletes to perform at their best in practices and games.

Advanced training plan
Your first trainingEvery advanced athlete is different, so the first session is focused on evaluation. I’ll assess movement mechanics, football IQ, position-specific technique, and overall athleticism while learning the athlete’s goals. From there, we’ll build a personalized development plan designed to maximize strengths and address areas for improvement.
Training 2-3Once we establish a baseline, training becomes more position specific and game focused. We’ll refine technique, improve reaction time, sharpen decision making, and increase game speed through competitive drills that translate directly to football. Every drill has a purpose, and every rep is intentional.
Training 4-10As the athlete develops, training becomes faster, more challenging, and more situational. We focus on mastering the details that separate good athletes from great ones, including football IQ, position-specific skills, confidence under pressure, and consistent execution at game speed.
Training 11+At this stage, training is completely individualized. Sessions are built around the athlete’s position, goals, strengths, weaknesses, and upcoming competition. We continue refining technique while developing leadership, discipline, confidence, and the ability to perform consistently in high-pressure situations.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen I work with kids, my focus is on making the game fun, positive, and purposeful. I keep things structured but simple, using clear demonstrations, relatable language, and drills that feel like games while still teaching the fundamentals. The goal is to build confidence early so they stay engaged and excited to learn. I adapt each lesson based on their age, attention span, and experience level. Some kids need more movement and energy; others need slower breakdowns and repetition. Either way, I always make sure they’re learning why we’re doing something, not just how. I create a positive, structured environment where young athletes can build confidence while learning the game the right way. Every lesson is age appropriate and focused on developing athletic movement, football fundamentals, teamwork, and a love for the game. I believe athletes learn best when they’re challenged, encouraged, and having fun.

Working with teenagersWith teenage athletes, my focus shifts toward accountability, football IQ, and preparing them to compete at a higher level. Training is challenging, competitive, and tailored to each athlete’s position and goals. I emphasize discipline, attention to detail, and mastering the fundamentals while helping athletes develop the confidence to perform under pressure. I adapt my lessons by matching their maturity level and goals. Some teens need structure and confidence; others need refinement and leadership. Either way, I make sure they leave each session understanding how small details impact their overall performance. My approach still follows the LTAD model, building not just athletic ability, but emotional discipline and decision-making. Teen athletes are learning how to handle real competition and real adversity, so I train them to think, respond, and carry themselves like the next level is already here.

What you need to bringCleats or athletic shoes (depending on the training surface), athletic clothing, water, and a great attitude. Athletes are encouraged to bring their own football and flag belt if they have one, but they’re not required.

What I can bringFootballs (youth and official size), cones, agility ladders, mini hurdles, speed hurdles, resistance parachute, tennis balls, and football specific training equipment for speed, agility, footwork, ball skills, and position development.
