Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will use a 7 or 8 iron and I’ll start with your grip, then stance, and ball position. I’ll show you the proper mechanics of a swing. You can hit off my personal training mat that gives instant feedback until we find the low point of your swing. Next you’ll hit a few balls and then I’ll take a quick photo or video of your swing and give you pointers for improvement.
Lesson 2-3I’ll check your grip stance posture and ball position. I’ll watch you swing and hit a few balls and I will be able to help you find the proper position on your Takeaway impact and follow through for your swing. I’ll take more video and we can look at issues and see where you’ve improved. If you are practicing on your own, by your third lesson, you should be able to swing the club and hit your seven iron 100 yards straight.
Lesson 4-10Next, we will use the driver off the tea. The driver is a different swing than your iron so it will take some adjustment. Chipping and putting are two very important components of golf we can work on those areas.
Lesson 11+At this point, you should be able to hit consistent iron shots, consistent driver off the tee. We should have touched almost every club in your golf bag mid irons hybrids, 3-5 woods, etc. Certain golf ranges have Toptracer technology that will be able to measure the distance of your clubs. So you will know how far on average you hit a 7 iron. You’ll be able to chip and putt confidently.
