Beginner training plan
Your first lessonAnalyze their swing. If they've never picked up a club, I start with the very basics. Grip, stance, and ball position. I will then work on swing mechanics. A drill i use for every student, but especially for beginners, is the Ball Takeaway drill. Placing a second golf ball behind the club, the student pushes the ball backwards slowly. From there, they follow through with their swing. This drill helps get the club started on the correct swing path without any unnecessary wrist break or hinge at the beginning of the swing.
Lesson 2-3I will continue to analyze the students swing. Watching for the basics. Making sure the basics and fundamentals are correct. I will use more in depth training aids and drills. If the student contents to being recorded, I will record their swing from different angles. Then play back the videos with the student. Showing each angle and showing frame by frame each correct and incorrect part of the swing. This helps identify areas that need improvement that are not noticeable to the naked eye. Reviewing the videos will help identify causes and effects of the students swing. The videos will then be sent to the student so they can play back their own swing and identify where in their swing needs improvement. I will keep track of yardage for each club to get a baseline of potential for each club.
Lesson 4-10Each lesson will run through key drills to improve basics, fundamentals, and swing mechanics. If each lesson is recorded, we will play back the videos from the previous lesson. This will show a path of progression. From day one to day ten. The student will see themselves improve from each lesson. By identifying areas of needed improvement in each video, this will help the student see for themselves if they've corrected those areas or if they still persist. Adding new drills that will help improve the students areas that need improvement. Yardage will be tracked each lesson to track if yardage has increased for each club. Showing improvement of ball striking.
Lesson 11+Student will run through a set list of drills on their own. With help when needed. I will analyze each drill and give feedback during each one. Memorizing their own routine and gaining muscle memory through each drill. Yardages will be compared from the first lesson to the current lesson. Showing the student their improvement. Hitting the ball further, straighter, and more consistent.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAnalyze their swing. Inspect their grip, stance, and ball position. I will then work on swing mechanics. A drill i use for every student is the Ball Takeaway drill. Placing a second golf ball behind the club, the student pushes the ball backwards slowly. From there, they follow through with their swing. This drill helps get the club started on the correct swing path without any unnecessary wrist break or hinge at the beginning of the swing. I will ask about years of experience playing golf, areas they feel need work, and inconsistencies they feel need work. I will implement specific drills targeting those areas needing improvement.
Lesson 2-3Run through drill set. Analyze the students swing. Record the students swing if they consent. Review the students swing with them to identify problem areas. Videos will be sent to student for them to play back for themselves. Adding new drills or training aids where needed. Keeping track of yardage for each club to get a baseline for each club.
Lesson 4-10Run through drill set list. Analyzing the students swing. Looking for improvements made over the course of each lesson. Keeping track of yardage for each club to help identify if yardage was gained from the previous lesson. Review videos with student to watch progression from each lesson. These lessons will include how to hit a fade and draw. Learning to control the ball. Improving accuracy and shot shaping.

I really enjoyed taking lessons from James. He was patient, kind, and explained everything to me in ways I would understand. He was knowledgeable, encouraging, and motivating. For someone that has never played golf, James really helped me build my confidence, provided me with extensive knowledge, and gave me tools to help me improve my game. I recommend him to anyone looking for lessons. They won't be disappointed.
