About your golf coach

Having traversed the professional golf circuit as a CPGA pro, I proudly boast a track record of triumphs, including two-time MVP honors with the Durham Lords Golf Team and a spot on the prestigious 2001 All Ontario golf team. My prowess on the green is underscored by multiple tournament victories, highlighted by a jaw-dropping low round of 62. A true testament to my skill, I once clinched victory against a McKenzie Tour winner and PGA Tour player, leaving an indelible mark on the greens. Beyond my exploits on the course, I've penned the insightful tome "Play Winning Golf," drawing inspiration from the timeless teachings of Harvey Penick to elevate golfers of all levels. I taught professionally to students of all levels at The Mandarin Golf Club, now called Upper Unionville Golf Club, and The Salmon Arm Golf Club.

Dr. Matthew Kittleson
One of the hardest components of improving your mental game is getting yourself into the right state of mind to do the training. Justin's style makes it easy to achieve that state of mind whole amplifies the experience and accelerates the learning.
Dr. Jeffrey Gratton
Justin does a wonderful job simplifying our beloved sport into applicable takeaways that changed the way I now approach every shot. It is like I have hired my own personal mental caddy to accompany me around the golf course.
Salmon Arm Observer
Justin Mayer is a player. We watched him sing a bride putt to force a playoff at the Spalding Cup. Two years later he and his partner came from five back to win, shooting 68 in the process.
Colin McClure
Your short game is deadly, I never told you this but your putting made me so mad as every single time it looked like the putt was going to go in.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonYour first lesson will be a short game lesson where the main goal will be to enjoy what were doing without any pressure. The focus will be to get you into a comfortable setup over the ball with a consistent method and technique. This first lesson is ideal for short game as I can get the best overall understanding of your mechanics, personality, and capabilities. It's a low-pressure environment where we aim for enjoyment over rigorous improvement. Most golfers take most of their shots within 100 yards. This is the #1 area of the game, especially in the beginning, to learn and practice. Our first lesson is on basic fundamentals with no pressure for performance. You'll do some chipping and some putting, working on simple things like stance, grip, posture, ball position, hand position. I'll give you some time-tested practice drills that I use personally, some even in my own pre shot routine. This lesson is also a great place for any questions or concerns you have with golf.
Lesson 4-10Lesson 4-10 is the time we start hitting some full shots, again building on the foundation we've built up to this point. As a beginner, the mechanics and how to swing can be difficult to understand and get comfortable with. Having the first three lessons chipping and putting helps make the transition to hitting full shots a lot easier. This will help you improve faster and learn how to hit full shots quicker and easier. We will work on the basics of grip, stance, ball position, posture, and some basic mechanical rules that all good players follow. A few of these lessons will likely be focused on the short game as well.
Lesson 2-3The second and third lessons will use the fiest lesson as a foundation from which we will build upon. Both these lessons will be focused on the short game, with putting, chipping and pitching being the focus for improvement. In these lessons we will go beyond just simple basics and start getting more specific in technique and method. We will play some games and use some new techniques that will help you improve and get the most out of your practice.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAs a former professional chasing the dream, you get someone who's experienced in what it takes to succeed at higher levels of golf. I excel at the mental game and course management. While im structured and organized, even providing follow-up materials, my teaching style is more like Harvey Penick. No lessons are the same. I'm available for playing lessons and mental game coaching like Bob Rotella. Playing lessons involve a round of golf together, where i can observe your on course play. This helps me formulate a structured plan for practice and play, including swing tips and short game tips. This will allow you to practice free from a coach looking over your shoulder all the time. For swing lessons and short game lessons, you would need to talk to your golf course and obtain approval before I can teach at your club. Please Ask A Question on my profile for availability if none is showing.

What you need to bringFor mental game and course management lessons you will need to being an open mind and a desire to improve You may want to bring something either write notes or record our lessons. For golfing you will need basic golf equipment. A bag clubs, balls, tees, a glove if you prefer using one. Most facilities will be lenient on dress code and so you can wear almost anything you'd like. However they may have some restrictions which can differ by facility. If you have a question about attire you can ask me or search the information out yourself based on the facility of your choice. More than anything you should bring a positive attitude, a desire to improve and an open mind ready to learn new things.

What I can bringI can provide a putter and alignment sticks. I will have a camera and smart phone to record video of your swings, chips and putts. Training aids are best applied to individuals based on their need and the solution the Training aid provides. Therefore I can recommend certain Training aids or offer advice on them however most of the solutions I use are not gimmick devices but tried and tested techniques used successfully for decades by teaching professionals.
