About your golf coach

Fueled by a lifelong dedication to golf, I bring 30 years of experience to helping players elevate their game. I've coached children from the ages of 4-18. I coached a Nike Golf Camp for a number of years at Tilden Park Golf Course where I focused on younger golfers. I've been the head coach at a number of successful high schools throughout the area. I have also taught adults, family, and friends. I offer a unique perspective and my first and most important rule is that we're having fun. If we're not having fun we are in the wrong sport. But with patience and a lot of practice I can promise that your golf game will improve and after hitting a few solid shots you'll become addicted to the game. I'll tailor my lessons to each individual and take the time to ensure that progress is made. My passion lies in fostering a fun and supportive environment where golfers of all levels can thrive. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson would be going over the basics of the game. First the grip, how to hold the club, the stance. Where you’re feet should be positioned, and then we can begin to start on making solid contact with the ball.
Lesson 2-3We start at the range where we’d go over the basics again and start to learn little nuances of the golf swing. We would also head to the putting green to get an idea of what the short game of golf is.
Lesson 4-10These lessons will probably be the most frustrating and where your patience will be key. Expect to struggle but also know that you’ll start to see improvements as well. Your swing will start to feel more natural.
Lesson 11+If you decide to continue with lessons we can learn all sorts of different ways to hit the ball. How to hit the ball straight, how to hit a draw, which for a right handed golfer starts to the right and ends on the left, and a fade, which is the opposite, starting on the left and ending on the right. Your short game should be pretty decent at this point as well and you should be comfortable playing 9 or 18 holes with anyone and having FUN!
Youth players
Working with kidsI have years of experience teaching summer camps for kids ranging in age from 5-18. I’ve been the head coach at a few different local high schools. I try my best to impart the wisdom I have gained over the years while also keeping it simple and entertaining.
Working with teenagersUsually kids this age have a little bit of experience with the game so I am able to go over some aspects of the game and swing that proves to be somewhat difficult for kids on the younger side. I try to teach the mental part of the game. Being able to play a smart round is crucial for becoming a good golfer.
What you need to bringYou should bring your own clubs. If you have yet to buy a set and only have access to a few clubs that is fine. A putter, pitching wedge, and 7 iron is all you really need to get started. A large bucket of range balls usually costs around $15-17 so bring a $20 just to make sure!

Sean is a very skilled coach with deep experience, and it was helpful spending a lesson with someone who has such a strong feel for the game. I’m very new to golf, and he gave me several useful drills and visual metaphors that made certain concepts click for me, especially his “paintbrush” cue for brushing the grass. You can tell a lot of this teaching comes from years of playing and collecting ways to explain the swing which made the lesson interesting and gave me a lot to practice afterwards.
