Beginner training plan
Your first lessonAssess 1-2 major swing flaws/ball flight tendencies. There are usually several swing flaws or beginners, but I only focus on 1 or 2 initially. In beginners, 90% of my students have 1 or 2 or all of 3 of these problems: 1. Improper weight shift; 2. Improper releasing of the club; or 3. Improper swing path (usually outside to in). Find out average score per round to monitor improvement. Give drills to work on at home.
Lesson 11+Main thing at this point is to make sure swing changes and practice are translating to the course and resulting in lower scores.
Lesson 4-10Continue to monitor improvement on the swing changes. Work on other details of the golf swing that can now that the basics have been achieved at a somewhat consistent basis. Develop a good practice routine. Also, begin to assess and improve short game (pitching, chipping and putting). An on-course lesson or two at this point is highly recommended.
Lesson 2-3Assess the progress the student has made on the 1-2 swing flaws initially identified. This will determine if we need to continue to work on those or are able to begin to move onto another area/flaw that needs improvement.
What you need to bringGolf clubs - if beginner just a 7 or 8. Iron will do. Wear athletic clothing and gym shoes or ok shoes.
