About your guitar coach

My name is Alex Charlton and I have a been a guitar, bass, and ukulele instructor for over 15 years. I offer both in person and live virtual lessons. In both beginner and intermediate players I specialize in recognizing your ineffective patterns, and helping you correct them with a combination of instruction and intentional exercises that will elevate your playing. I teach sight chord mastery, and improvisation. I enjoy tailoring our lessons to your favorite genre.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is always free, and it’s about getting to know one another. During that lesson we find out what your goals are when it comes to what genre or skill level you desire to play. Then we come up with a plan for going forward based on the skill level you have in that moment.
Lesson 11+On from here we really start to push what you thought was possible. We can get as advanced and as your heart desires.
Lesson 4-10Fourth through tenth lessons we’ve got a few tunes under our belt and we’ve begun to push past the initial starting point. This is where things really start to get fun because you can jam on the songs you know, as well as pick up new things much faster!
Lesson 2-3Second and third lessons we begin either working on the chords / scales / riffs / exercises needed for the first song that we’ve chosen to tackle together based on your skill level.
Youth players
Working with kidsWith kids it’s really important to get the parents involved with the practice assignments. They’re the ones that are really going to drive the growth of the student through practice in the home.
Working with teenagersTeenagers depending on their level of commitment can be taught much like adults. It’s all about getting them excited about the types of music they want to play and making sure that they can see the connection between what we’re practicing and their end goals.
What you need to bringBring your guitar and / or amp and any equipment you want to learn to utilize.
What I can bringI can share an amp if you don’t have one but I highly encourage you to get comfortable playing with and fine tuning yours.

If you need to cancel your lesson, no worries! You can get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of making your booking. We want to make the process as hassle-free as possible for you.

And if you simply want to reschedule your lesson, change the date and time, or adjust the number of students joining, we've got you covered there too. You can easily make these changes within 24 hours of booking, and up to 72 hours before your lesson starts.
