Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will start by going over the different parts of the guitar, then talk about the different notes of the strings. If you don’t have any musical knowledge, don’t worry, we’ll go over some of the music theory basics here.
Lesson 11+We can delve more into various techniques, depending on what the student is interested in (fingerpicking, different styles of strumming, more difficult chords, etc. )
Lesson 4-10We will continue practicing chords and strumming and apply those to a few simple songs!
Lesson 2-3Once you understand fundamental music concepts and the notes of each string, we can start playing around with basic chords.
Youth players
Working with kidsMost of my students have been kids actually. I love turning the exercises into little games to keep their attention, as well as learning songs that the students know and enjoy. Younger students often do well in pairs since we can have little competitions between them to motivate them.
Working with teenagersI’m only 21 so I feel like I’m still pretty in touch with teens (I was one not that long ago). I think the most important thing when teaching teens is to relate to them and treat them as more a friend than a student.
