Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson will be learning the parts of the guitar, getting comfortable with holding the guitar correctly, and how to place your fingers on the guitar to produce a note! By day one you’ll already be playing several notes on the guitar.
Lesson 11+By this point, not only are you playing your first song, but the skills you’ve acquired have opened the door to learning many more! Even with only 3 chords, there are hundreds of songs to learn, but with 6-8-12 new chords, you can learn even more tunes. As you learn more songs, we’ll delve deeper into new chord voicings, how the artist might be playing those beginner chords on different parts of the fretboard. We’ll also practice playing melodies, scales, and even improvise over songs depending on which path you’re going down. By this point, lessons are slightly less structured and more tailored to what is interesting you on the guitar, and how you can develop more skills and unlock more possibilities.
Lesson 4-10By this point, we will be practicing our C major scale in first position, playing chords in time, and learning different strumming patterns. As you become more comfortable with the chord shapes and playing them in time, we will introduce more chords and begin playing the song of choice. We’ll also delve a little deeper into music theory; how to make a major scale, what is a key, and how to craft chords within a key.
Lesson 2-3We will learn the note names on the 6 strings, as well as beginning to play the C Major scale. By this point, we will choose a song you want to learn and gear our lessons towards playing the song. By the end of lesson 3, you’ll be able to play at least 1-3 beginner guitar chords.

What you need to bringStudents must bring their own guitar. Highly encouraged to bring your own picks, tuner, capo, and a folder and pencil to organize print outs. For electric guitars, you can bring your own amp and cables if you wish, as well as any effects pedals you want to bring, but that is not required.

What I can bringI will provide all print outs, as well as a spare pencil, extra capo, extra tuner, and guitar picks. For electric guitars, I will provide amplification and cables.
