Chris is the THE most amazing teacher one could ever wish for. Firstly, his talent of playing any style, tune or specific song or solo is beyond impressive. He has a very unique and intelligent way to teach using an approachable and memorable way of explaining. He is sharp in analyzing your play and identify areas to improve on. He will always be able to set the bar a step higher which is exactly what you want and need. He truly is the BEST I have ever seen. Have been with him for nearly 5 years and he brought me such a very long way.

Chris offers flexible availability, is knowledgeable, is attentative to your needs and skillset, and designs a curriculum/regimen unique to you and one that grows with you. This, along with his ability to create content specifically for each student (such as custom tracks to practice with) ensures that his lessons feel tailor-made for you and specifically designed to help you evolve as a musician. Chris should change his last name from Rockaway to RockSTAR. I've taken plenty of guitar lessons from others over the years, but no one had the seemingly psychic ability to assess my playing and prescribe a set of customized exercises the way Chris does. It's like he knows exactly what you need to stop feeling like a poser and actually get good at guitar. Chris pays full attention to you throughout the lessons, and you won't feel like he'd rather be somewhere else (wouldn't we all rather be headlining Coachella??!) Beginner training plan

Your first lessonTypically, there are some questions to figure out your goals, proficiency, your schedule as far as practice, how you interact with music, etc. Then we can draw up a customize regimen and get some exercises going, along with a prospectus, and get you started.

Lesson 2-3From this vantage point, I’m analyzing how you’re responding to the exercises, and see how we move forward into something sustainable that gets you 100 percent of the way to your goals

Lesson 4-10At this juncture, we should be in a total groove, and your progress should look like a jagged arrow pointing up- nothing is linear, but I can see progress where it may lie invisible to you!

Lesson 11+From here on out, our communication should be sterling, and you should have a steady diet of new challenges and the right mentality to make great progress consistently

What I can bringI have around 12 guitars (electrics and acoustics), a nice amp, and cables, plus my lesson sheets and speakers. Everything we need!

Hi, I’m Chris Rockaway — a producer, editor, and multi-instrumentalist with a degree from Musicians Institute here in LA. Guitar was my first love, and it’s still at the heart of everything I do. With over two decades of experience on stage, in the studio, and as an educator, I’ve developed a flexible teaching method that adapts to each student’s goals and strengths.
