About your guitar coach

Hey there I’m Damian Padron! Im a professional musician in Cobb County. I specialize in jazz, latin, rock, and funk. I have a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Guitar from KSU but im proficient in bass and piano. I’ve been teaching guitar bass and piano for 6 years. My teaching focuses on building strong musical foundations. This comes in the form of ear training, technique, and fleshing out your creativity. If you want to learn music by ear, dip your foot into improvisation, or simply learn some of your favorite songs I’m your guy!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonAll first time lessons will begin with learning vocabulary. All terms will be used in future lessons so it’s important to be on the same page. We will also go over how to read guitar/ bass music or find notes on the piano (depending on the type of lesson you’re taking)
Lesson 4-10This will focus greatly on ear training (learning how to identify musical ideas through listening alone) this will aid in learning music faster. We will do our best to learn a song/ piece in its entirety, some students will be able to do multiple.
Lesson 2-3We will start with the fundamental principles of technique I.e. posture, hand/ wrist/ elbow position, finger numbers. We will start learning chords and scales on the guitar. Piano students will start reading music and learning a song
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson we get to know eachother. I want to learn about your history with your instrument, what you’re good at, what you want to improve, and what you music you want to focus on. We will also dive into the learning style that best suits you.
Lesson 11+We will work out a list of goals and challenges you want to complete in the span of 2-3 months. This can include transcribing guitar or bass solos, arranging your own music for a full band, learning solo guitar pieces, etc.

Lesson 2-3Depending on your skill level we will look back at fundamentals and make sure you’re able to play major, minor, dominant, and diminished chords as well as Major and minor scales in various positions
Youth players
Working with kidsMost children age 11 and younger usually don’t know what kind of music they truly like. I believe exposure is important. We will dive into different music genres in western culture through out the last 100 years. This will broaden their knowledge of music and train their ears to listen out for various musical ideas
Working with teenagersMost teens age 12 and up usually know what kind of music they like. We will focus on the music they WANT to learn about 50% of the time. The other 50% will be music important for developing skills and techniques essential to being great musicians. This will be in genres such as classical and jazz
What you need to bring•Always bring your notes from previous weeks •your instrument •A tab notebook or binder •Blank music manuscript
What I can bring•I will have a piano at the studio as well as a guitar available to students needing one during the lesson •Guitar picks •capos •pencils, pens, and highlighters
