Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI like to see first what a student is most inspired to learn including which songs and what styles they are the most interested in. From there we can plan a curriculum that is suited to the student interest.
Lesson 11+We will continue to find exercises that will develop muscle memory with chords and right hand patterns catered to the specific student.
Depending on the speed of development, we could be beginning to explore more intermediate chords and rhythms that apply to the student’s favorite music as well as getting into music theory that can advance melodic progression and understanding in the vast world of song.
Lesson 4-10We will have fun learning to play multiple songs and make sure the joy that comes with that development is consistent in the learning process.
Making sure to enjoy the process is crucial :-)
Music can become very dry and tedious which can be discouraging for beginners.
Having fun learning songs that we love is the best strategy:-)
If the student is applying themselves in their own time between lessons, by the 10th lesson we could be able to play up to a half a dozen songs already!
Lesson 2-3We will get into basics including playing position, most commonly played chords in first position and their names and then apply those to the songs we have chosen together for them to learn.
Right hand technique ( strumming and picking patterns ) and exercises to strengthen the left hand for clean sounding chords.
