Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson will be focused on introducing basics like identifying parts of the guitar, basics of how to read music for guitar as well as how to hold the guitar and pick. We will hopefully introduce basics like playing simple 1-2 finger chords to get us running.
Lesson 11+Remaining lessons will help us further fine tune and focus our efforts towards getting us closer to our specific goals. Above all else, we will try to keep all lessons fun and exciting by introducing more advanced techniques using music students enjoy listening to. By this point, we will hopefully have solid enough fundamentals to go in any direction that we want to go!
Lesson 4-10These lessons will take earlier topics and start to use them to be able to read and play music from sheet music, or learn to play chords along with some simpler songs. The specific direction taken will depend on the student’s goals
Lesson 2-3These lessons will typically enforce the topics introduced during the first lesson and gradually expand to also include timing, rhythm and basic chord changes.

Youth players
Working with kidsLessons for kids are adapted to allow for streamlined but effective goals. I understand that kids can have other school and after school related commitments that may make it harder for extended practice time and devotion. With this in mind, I accommodate by keeping the lessons fun, and direct with more specific goals and objectives in mind.

Working with teenagersTeenagers are usually more excited and eager to play specific music by specific songs or artists. I tailor lessons to allow for these songs and artists to be a major part of our lesson repertoire. At the same time, I do also bring in unexpected music to help expand our listening horizons or introduce music that may be similar to what teenagers want to play. Like children, teenagers may have other after school or school commitments, however they may be even more demanding, especially if advanced school classes are a part of the schedule. I am flexible and lenient in these cases and am happy to adjust the pace of lessons to accommodate for higher or lower stress times of school work.

What you need to bringStudents should have their own guitar and related equipment like guitar picks and tuners. I will also recommend some method books to go along with our lesson repertoire.

What I can bringI bring lesson materials like printed pages and my own guitar to help with demonstrating techniques fundamentals. A student should have their own guitar to practice between lessons for the best chance at seeing progress. I will sometimes recommend method books to go along with lessons, which students may need to purchase from other sources. (I do not sell my own method books)
