Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll get to know your goals, learn the parts of the guitar, proper posture, how to hold the pick, tune the guitar, and play your first power chords and simple riffs. By the end of the lesson, you’ll already be playing your first metal rhythm.
Lesson 2-3You’ll improve your timing and rhythm, practice palm muting, power chord changes, alternate picking, and play easy rock and metal riffs from real songs. We’ll also start building finger strength and coordination.
Lesson 4-10We’ll develop solid rhythm guitar skills, faster chord changes, downpicking, galloping rhythms, basic scales, and techniques like slides, hammer-ons, and pull-offs. You’ll continue learning songs from bands you enjoy while improving accuracy and confidence
Lesson 11+Lessons become personalized based on your goals. We’ll learn more challenging songs, improve speed and endurance, develop better picking technique, explore ear training, music theory for guitarists, songwriting, and prepare you to play confidently with other musicians or perform live.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll talk about your goals, make sure your guitar is set up correctly, and start with the fundamentals. By the end of the lesson, you’ll be playing your first metal riff.
Lesson 2-3We’ll build on the basics with power chords, palm muting, rhythm, and alternate picking. You’ll start learning simple songs and develop solid technique
Lesson 4-10You’ll improve your speed, timing, and accuracy while learning more challenging riffs and songs. We’ll introduce new techniques and help you play with confidence
Lesson 11+From this point on, every lesson is tailored to your goals. Whether you want to play Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, or other metal bands, we’ll focus on the skills and techniques you need to keep improving at your own pace
Youth players
Working with teenagersEvery student is different, so I adjust each lesson to their goals, experience, and favorite bands. I keep the atmosphere relaxed and encouraging while helping them build solid technique, rhythm, and confidence. My goal is to make every lesson enjoyable so they stay motivated and look forward to playing guitar.
What you need to bringPlease bring your guitar, a pick, a tuner, a guitar cable (if applicable), an amplifier or audio interface if available. Have a notebook or device ready for taking notes, and bring any songs or riffs you'd like to learn.
What I can bringI provide a guitar amplifier, two guitar cables, and an electronic tuner for in-person lessons. Students are welcome to use my equipment if needed.
