Mark came in to my life in a time in where I really needed it. I was already taking lessons with a teacher and stopped because the teacher didn’t really teach me anything that pertained to my interest. Mark was not able to reinvigorate my interest but help to me excel at guitar like I never thought before. I now am one of the most skilled musicians in my Jazz band and I truly have Mark to thank for that. Mark comes with a seriousness about the guitar that has helped him create a career for myself and many others.
Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFirst lessons always are meant to focus on the student. The first lesson helps me understand the student’s interest and, helps me shape the curriculum moving forward. We go over the anatomy of guitar, tuning, string pitches and tabs. I also take time to cover the workflow of the lesson and etc.
Lesson 11+Custom
Lesson 4-10Upon the completion of the primary levels of a riff or part. I then introduce higher levels of the part to create more engagement. We also go over other topics like chords, scales, theory and so on.
Lesson 2-3We start with basic concepts such as Fretting notes, holding a pick, plucking, strumming, wrist placement and control while playing. I usually bring excerpts of songs mentioned on the first lesson and teach parts from those songs. Sometimes these parts are completely stripped down in levels to give the student a great starting point to work with.
Youth players
Working with kidsI use more visual material and I teach more in a style that’s similar to school teachers.
Working with teenagersI help them to prepare for the starts of their music careers and primarily focus on music that inspires them.
