About your guitar coach

Howdy my name’s Paris Foster- Ive been playing guitar since I was 11 years old. I now have a bachelors of science in Sound Recording Technology with an emphasis in jazz guitar- with that being said, I love everything about the guitar from basic cowboys chords to getting to the point of recording your own guitar music at home. I am also a live sound engineer at the world famous Continental Club- I see a lot of cool music and know the ins and outs of many genres when it comes to the guitar. I would love to teach you a few things!

I have been taking lessons from Paris for the better part of a year now. I first connected with him through a mutual friend and I can say he’s one of the best guitar teachers I’ve ever had… he is not only a great, tasteful guitar player, he’s also an interesting guy. ask him about his opinion on Eric Clapton hehe. I recommend any person no matter skill level to take at least one lesson from Paris.

Paris is a very very cool guy! If anything, he is cool haha! He may be a little too creative sometimes for more simple people like me, but no matter you will LEARN. Sometimes it’s hard I’ll say, your fingers will hurt. You’ll want to give up. Then next thing you know you have a lesson scheduled for the day and you gotta go in and woodshed it! Taking lessons with Paris is a worthwhile experience, like I said. You will LEARN from him!!

I had to learn a song for a church event after only picking up a guitar maybe a handful of times in all of my 47 years!! Paris took this challenge very seriously and assured me I could learn Hallelujah in two months. When it came time for the recital I was nervous but I got through the entire song strumming chords in a group. It’s soemthing I’ve always wanted to do and learn and thanks to Paris I didn’t totally bomb on stage in front of friends and family lol!!

Paris is not only a guitar teacher, he’s become a good friend of mine. Lessons with Paris are different than any other guitar teacher I’ve had- he has a very nuanced ear but also knows how to treat absolute beginners like me. He has showed me so much good music over our lessons and my technique has improved dramatically. I can’t recommend him enough, especially if you’re tired of the same sort of guitar teachers around town.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is more of an introduction where I get to know you and we share some things about each other. Think of it as a friendly hangout- maybe we’ll share some music were into or some of our goals we want to achieve throughout or lessons.
Lesson 11+Remaining lessons can go all sorts of ways it’s hard to say because every student is different!! No matter what we are working on, improvement and growth is key. Maybe we’ll start focusing in on different aspects of guitar playing, or just music as a whole. Maybe we’ll start delving into how to professionally record yourself playing guitar, or how to write your own music, the opportunities are really endless.
Lesson 4-10The 4th-10th lessons will be the meat of it all. Think of this as the period where you start to really see improvement in your playing and skill level. Whether that’s through a strict practice regiment or just impromptu jams and spontaneous questions/ideas.
Lesson 2-3The second and third lessons I will have gotten a good grasp on your skill level and created a plan best to suit your goals as a guitar player. That may be a strict practice regiment, or just a relaxed hour where we jam out a song or lick you’ve been wanting to learn.

What you need to bringStudents should bring their own guitar, acoustic or electric.

What I can bringI have everything you need- multiple guitars acoustic and electric as well as multiple amps, some nice boutique and some practice amps.
