About your piano coach

Renowned maestro and music director, Cooper is celebrated as the conductor of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra. He previously held the role of Artistic Director for the University of Chicago’s Performing Arts Series for over a decade. Cooper's illustrious career includes piano recitals at Carnegie Recital Hall and more than 100 performances with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He earned degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester concurrently.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessions. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general. Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

Wonderful Teacher I am in my fourth year of completing my degree in music education. In the 6 months that I have been taking voice lessons, I have grown a lot. I have learned to project my voice more and be more confident in my singing. Besides learning to be a better singer, Mr. Cooper has also helped me improve upon my aural skills, which has helped me considerably in my school classes and preparing for student teaching. He was very encouraging and would challenge in at least one aspect at every lesson. The music he would provide me to sing was at a comfortable level for me, and was never boring. I enjoyed having Mr. Cooper as a teacher.

Highly recmmended Farobag Cooper excels with the student who has played the piano over a period of years. Fingering, for example, is adjusted to fit the player's hands rather than the proscribved notations of the publisher. Interpretation is noted and practiced at every moment of the composition often by the instructor then followed by the student. Perhaps what sets Farobag apart is his manner of conducting as one performs. It is a feeling like being in an orchestra with one's personal conductor. But first mastery of score. Then interpretation. Voila! Music!!

Mr. Cooper goes above and beyond the expectations of a music coach by having such a contagious passion for music.
