Beginner training plan
Your first lessonProviding on the age of the student, what do they wish to accomplish with the class? I test their willingness to read music, ear training exchanges, hand exercises, and a song based on their ability.
Lesson 11+Preparation for their first recital.
Lesson 4-10Songs and exercises that are more advanced and building a repertoire of songs for their first recital.
Lesson 2-3Hanon excercises, scales, arpeggios and cadences, and songs to help their abilities to read music, together with music theory workbooks.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonThe trial lesson is to see where they are at when it comes to reading music, technique, any songs or material they have learned in the past, and questions as to what they want to achieve with the class and tailor the lessons to their needs.
Youth players
Working with kidsTeaching kids as young as 5 they must know the alphabet and how to count. From there I begin to teach songs and exercises tailored to their abilities. I work with the child at their pace in a no-pressure teaching environment
Working with teenagersStarting with their first lesson I establish with both the student and the parents the goals they want to achieve with the class. Do they want to learn music for their own enjoyment? Do they want to compete in competitions? Is it with the goal of academics or personal growth? Once there is a clear understanding we can work for the benefit of the student.
