Michael is truly one of those once in a lifetime teachers. Every so often you come across someone that's is so different from the norm especially in the field of music and piano teachers. I'm no beginner but I'm also not a professional. Music is a huge passion of mine and one of the most important things in my life. I've always played the piano and guitar and I've written a lot of music. I'm not rich or famous but I have some amazing instruments in my studio. When Michael came to me, he was amazed by what I had and we had an awesome first session! I showed him some of my music and let me tell you, we spent 3 HOURS at my studio that day! I paid him cash for the other two, by the way and even paid him double. He's THAT good! Michael's ability to take what I wrote and improve it and actually break down the improvements he made is the biggest thing for me. His explanations are extremely detailed that I had to take notes just so I didn't forget any of it! Michael is truly an incredibly gifted and talented musician and teacher and when I upgradee my studio I'm hiring him as my consultant! He does that, too by the way! His knowledge in both music and synthesizers is truly mind blowing!

Well what can I say about Michael? He's super passionate, he's actually a musical genius. I said what I said! He's a teacher that lays down the foundation for everything you need to know about how to play and create music. He is NOT a piano teacher. If you're looking to learn how to play, there's tons of amazing piano teachers out there. Michael isn't your typical teacher. My first lesson with him was actually a full conversation about music! It wasn't even a lesson per se, but I learned so much that first day with what he showed me that when I came back the following week, I was able to show him what I learned and wrote my first song! It wasn't anything elaborate or special. It was just a melody and some basic chords, but let me tell you, I kept working at it and I can't believe I wrote it! I've dabbed in music for years and I've always been able to play by ear with what I've figured out on my own. I never really knew what I was doing, but everyone has told me I sound really good. Now, with Michael's lessons, not only can I play really well, but I finally understand what I'm doing!

For years, our household piano sat untouched, a silent testament to my longing to bring it to life. I spent months searching for a piano teacher who understood my passion for both playing and understanding music theory. Many instructors I encountered focused solely on playing and reading music, dismissing my deep interest in theory. Though YouTube tutorials provided some guidance, they weren’t enough. Then I found Michael. His unique teaching approach prioritizes music theory, making playing the piano feel natural and intuitive. Under his guidance, I finally achieved the musical depth I had always craved. Michael’s ability to connect on both a personal and educational level has made him not just a remarkable teacher, but a true friend. For anyone seeking a comprehensive understanding of music beyond mere playing, I can't recommend Michael enough.

Michael was recommended to me by a friend of mine who knew him back in California. I was super skeptical at first because I just wanted to learn how to play. I have always loved the piano and have dabbed at it over the years, but I never took any lessons for some reason. When I met Michael, he asked me what my goals were and what I wanted to get out of his lessons. After a rather long first conversation, I realized that I didn't just want to play, I wanted to write, too! Michael somehow knew that because why else would I have gone to him instead of a regular piano teacher? His lessons are so detailed and comprehensive. He doesn't teach like other teacher's as I later on found it. He teaches you the foundation of music theory on the piano that you can actually use! I'm blown away by Michael's talent and his passion for music.

Michael's lessons are truly something else! I'm a seasoned professional musician and I have never seen anyone teach the way Michael does. His breakdowns of chords is mind blowing. I always used simple chords when doing covers and I always played as it was written to bring out the authenticity of the music, but with what I learned from Michael I'm able to add to the authenticity and make it my own. People I've worked with I'm the studio for years were noticing the changes and it's like I went from playing it safe to trying new things and actually succeeding! I'm not a writer or a composer, I'm just a musician that loves to play my favorite songs and with Michael's lessons I could very easily become a writer and very few teachers teach what Michael does nowadays! What a breath of fresh air!

Without prior piano lessons, I spent months searching for a teacher who understood my desire to learn both playing and music theory. Our household piano sat unused for years and I always wanted to make it sound good. Most teachers focused only on playing and reading music, dismissing my interest in theory. YouTube helped, but it wasn't enough. Then I found Michael, who emphasizes theory over just playing. His approach made playing come naturally, which is exactly what I wanted that most teachers dismissed me on. Michael is not only a great teacher but also a friend. I highly recommend him for anyone wanting to go beyond just playing

About your piano coach

I am deeply passionate about music theory and composition, skills I largely taught myself from a young age. Since starting piano lessons at 7, my fascination with creating music has been unrelenting; melodies and chords seemed to flow effortlessly from my mind to my fingers. Over the years, I noticed the struggles many faced with music theory, contrasting sharply with my intuitive grasp. After years of introspection, I discovered my unique ability stemmed from a blend of natural aptitude and self-guided learning. Today, alongside designing recording studios, I find joy in teaching music theory and composition, especially to those eager to unlock their musical potential. It's a privilege to share my lifelong passion and nurture young talent who share my childhood enthusiasm for music.
