I’ve been taking lessons with Dan Mariani for the past few months, and I can honestly say it’s been a game-changer. From the very beginning, Dan has been patient and balances technical skill with strategic play. One of the areas I’ve seen the most improvement in is my serve. Dan had me adjust my technique which not only added more power but he also worked on drills to teach me how to place the serve at my opponent’s back hand. Beyond just the serve, we’ve also worked on dinks, 3rd shot drops and lob techniques to make me more mindful of where I’m positioning my shots to have better control in the game. Dan truly cares about my growth as a player and continues to communicate off the court as well with more tips and suggestions. I would definitely recommend him!

Dan Mariani Is an excellent instructor. I have had the pleasure of training with him on several occasions. He is patient, informative, and kind. He has taught me 3 different serves, how to master dinking from side to side and best of all how to stand my ground at the kitchen line. He has always taught me to be aware of not only where my partner is but also to see where my opponents are at all times. How it works
Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will discuss grip and “ready position” and practice dinking and why it is a fundamental skill in pickleball.
Lesson 11+As we learn each skill I will explain more about strategy on the court, positioning, how to mirror your partner, low shots vs. high shots, where to hold your paddle based upon court placement. We will discuss the dangers of staying too long in the transition zone and practice more difficult shots like backhands from the baseline, and returning lobs that are well-placed.
Lesson 4-10In later lessons I cover the serve and the return, 3rd shot drop, 3rd shot drive, overhead smash, backhand shots, and the value and utility of lobbing.
Lesson 2-3We discuss and practice volleying.

With three years of pickleball instruction, I tailor my coaching to each student's needs. My passion is fostering confidence and skill in a fun, supportive environment. Let's elevate your game together! I wrote a fun book about pickleball entitled: Is There Pickleball in Heaven?” New students get a complimentary copy of this book. I’m certified Level I Instructor with the IPTPA. Over the years I have taught about 40 people on game fundamentals. I teach indoors as well as outside, weather permitting. I have an inside option for the colder weather. We can discuss. It is at a conveniently located pickleball center.
