About your pickleball coach

I'm David, and after 30 years of playing 4.5 tennis, I discovered my passion for Pickleball and haven't looked back since. Now, I'm excited to share my expertise as a Certified PPR Coach and help beginners up to 4.0+ DUPR players improve their skills and understanding of this dynamic sport. Despite initial hesitation, I've come to love Pickleball even more than tennis and am eager to guide others in enjoying this game as much as I do. Let's work together and elevate your Pickleball game!

The lesson with David was quite helpful, especially with his focus on specific techniques that I hadn’t fully grasped before. Though I still have some areas to refine, I left feeling more confident in my paddle control and positioning, which was pretty good. I’d consider signing up for another lesson to keep improving. But, we still have 4 more lessons, I think.

I appreciated the lesson with David. Hitting targets and practicing serve and return were pretty helpful. Though I still need to improve my volleying, I feel like I left with a clearer sense of where to focus next. Still, those target hits made the lesson quite engaging and gave me a nice confidence boost. Curious to see how my game progresses, I'd consider trying David if you're after focused pickleball practice.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFind out what your goals are with the game of pickleball, Your just here for social fun or I want to learn to play competitively. Goal of first lesson is to touch on all roles of the game, focused on showing the fun of pickleball with beginning to explain rules, different types of common shots (dink, volley, groundstroke, serve), initial talk through scoring and gameplay.
Lesson 11+-building on all previous lessons in consistency - deciding on if your interested advancing DUPR rating and competition in league/tournaments
Lesson 4-10Building on lessons 2-3 but increasing shot ability/placement/power -footwork, body positioning based on where the ball is -overheads and footwork needed -strategy in gameplay -discuss/plan for competitive play/tournaments
Lesson 2-3After initial assessment trying to align with your goals you’ve expressed and how to quickly I assess we can move based on your skill set. -Really focused on basic strokes (dink, volley, serve, forehand/backhand groundstrokes consistently) -keeping score - being able to play a game with friends and others. -trying to build the fun in the game to want to keep play and being comfortable to play with others -paddle position baseline/transition/ kitchen

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAssess your skills set, through basic shots, shot selection, and some game play to see if I’m going to be a good fit to grow your skills.
Lesson 11+-continue to build on previous lessons and focus on your specific weaknesses vs strengths -competitive play advancement and strategy -figure out how I can help you get to the next level in your personal goals, which might might not be with me. We will figure that out together.
Lesson 4-10- everything builds from previous lessons with goal focused drills -shot selection and placement when/where/why -firefights, fast hands, defense, get out of danger plan - 3/5/7 shot placements -serving as a weapon -when middle when not -lob for the win -spin when/where/why/which one -overhead placement / flamingo
Lesson 2-3Based on your specific goals plan will change but highly level. -court position-when/where/why -drive vs drop vs lob -shot placement (serve, drive, dink, volley) -reset vs punch volley vs speed ups -grip pressure on shots when/where/why -begin gameplay strategies doubles/ singles -overheads/lobs -protecting weaknesses -3rd shot drops

What you need to bringWhat you will need for a lesson: -Pickleball paddle ( I have demo paddles if you haven’t purchased yet) -Comfortable athletic clothing -Hard court tennis shoes (highly recommended), any flat sole sport shoe is a good starting point. Don’t recommend running shoes due to lack of lateral support that makes rolling ankles really easy. -water -hats/sunglasses recommended on sunny days -sunscreen

What I can bringI am a VaticPro ambassador and have a few demo paddles available for you to try if needed. -Flash Raw Carbon 16mm (Demo) -Prizm v7 Raw Carbon 16mm short handle (Demo) -Prism Flash 16mm -v7 16 mm long handle -v7 16 mm (personal paddle) -Alchemy 16mm (personal paddle) Just let me know ahead of lesson if you would like to demo or will need a paddle for your lesson.
