As a retired educator with 33 years of experience coaching high school football , baseball and basketball, I bring a proven, structured approach to coaching at the Kitchen. I am PPR Certified Pickleball, Certified DUPR Coach, and an active member of both the USA Pickleball Association and the Texas High School Coaches Association. Having taught more than 500 lessons over the past two years at Thrive Recreation Center in Lewisville.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFirst I would start by introducing myself and finding out more about my students. Then I would go over the basic rules. Of pickleball, including The different types of grips The 2 bounce rule, the scoring. How the ball is being called in or out. And last but not least, the non-volley zone, or as it's known to everyone, the kitchen. Then observe the students play.
Lesson 2-3I would watch the student play a mini pickleball game so I can observe control, ball position, and footwork. Then the student would work on their contact zone so they can recognize their contact zone.
Lesson 4-10The students would work on their weight transfer so they can work their way from baseline to the NVZ
Youth players
Working with kidsI would start with the basic stance, grip and contact point.
Working with teenagersI would start with the basic stance, grip and contact point. Them more of the basic rules.
What you need to bringPlease bring water and some good shoes(court shoes).
What I can bringI will bring extra paddles if needed, balls and a net if needed.
