About Me I’ve been passionate about pickleball for over 7 years and have spent the last 5 years helping others discover and improve their game. I’ve placed 1st and 3rd in three local tournaments and love bringing that competitive experience to my teaching style—whether you’re brand new to the sport or looking to sharpen your skills. What I Offer • Beginner-Friendly Lessons: I provide a wide variety of paddles for you to try before investing in your own equipment. • Equipment Guidance: Get insider tips on where to find quality pickleball gear—often at a discount! • Lobster Machine Training: Occasionally, we’ll train using a Lobster pickleball launcher for focused, high-repetition drills. Already know how to play? You can book a session just to drill with the Lobster. • Indoor Lessons (Winter): During colder months, indoor lessons are available with at least 7 days’ notice so I can reserve a court. As a beginning pickleballer, I recommend John as an excellent instructor in explaining the rules and aspects of the game as well as leading great drills intended to improve your game. I signed up for four group lessons and John still gave individual attention to each of us at every practice. Everything from how to hold your paddle properly to kitchen play to serving, his expertise and valued experience help him analyze and critique your skills and provide the corrections needed to improve your game. John is a fabulous PB instructor. He is kind, patient, encouraging and direct with pinpoint feedback. He gave my husband and me multiple drills to help us with dinks, 3rd shot drops, backhand deep drills, serves and many other tips. He specializes in beginners but can help intermediate players refine their game. Plus he is just an awesome person all around and has done so much to bring the game to many more people. Love his PB machine he brings. Rob and I are huge John Fischer fans.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson, we go over safety, proper grip, court layout, serving legally, 2 bounce rule, non-volley zone rules, introduction to keeping score, and we’ll play a few games to implement what you learned.
Lesson 11+After 4 lessons, I expect students should be ready to play against players of similar ability, but I encourage them to play against players that are better than them in order to improve.
Lesson 4-10Lesson #4, We’ll learn about the overhead smash, defending the overhead smash, and adding spin to your shots. We might also learn how to play when you only have 3 players, and skinny singles.
Lesson 2-3Lesson #2, you will learn dinking down the line, dinking cross court, windshield wiper dinks down the line and cross court. Then you will implement what you learned with a few games of singles.
Lesson #3. You will learn about the 3rd shot drop, and when and why you use it. You’ll also learn about lobbing and when to lob. Then you’ll implement what you learned by playing a game of serve, return, drop.
What you need to bringWear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and court shoes and bring water to hydrate.
What I can bringI bring a variety of paddles, a variety of both indoor and outdoor balls, and after our first lesson I provide all students with an electronic version of the current official USAPA Rulebook.
If you wish to have lessons at your own home, you will need to provide your own net and lined pickleball court.
