Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI always approached the first lesson with the basics.The paddle grip, where to stand on court and how to come to the net. The proper serve technique and some drills on dinking and learning how to hit short cross court shots.
Lesson 2-3Next we practice and refine the serve, how to hit various spins and overheads. Also work on the short game..
Youth players
Working with kidsI always start with the basics with kids to make sure that they’re holding the paddle correctly and then getting them to be able to hit the ball. With beginners it’s just one step at a time..
Working with teenagersTeenagers generally are eager to learn so you start just to see how they hit the ball and then if they have previous experience with racket sports, then you give them a challenge little by little. Then you work on strengthening their placement and power.
What you need to bringMake sure to bring a paddle and a ball and water and shoes that you would play tennis in.
What I can bringI will provide balls and if you do not have a paddle , let me know ahead of time and I can bring one for you.
