About your pickleball coach

I’ve been playing pickleball for five years now, and it’s become more than just a sport for me, t’s something I truly love. I’m always working to improve my own game because the challenge and joy of playing keep me coming back. My goal as a coach is to share that same passion and help my students not only improve their skills but also find the same enjoyment and community that hooked me from the start. They say, “Do what you love,” and for me, this is it.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn our first session, we’ll focus on building a strong foundation. We’ll cover: • Basic rules and court layout • Proper grip and ready position • Simple, repeatable strokes (serve, return, and dink) • Footwork and positioning • A few fun drills with my pickleball machine to build confidence • Light gameplay so you can apply what you’ve learned
Lesson 11+Game Play & Refinement • Live games with strategic coaching between points • Refining shot selection and control • Introducing soft game vs. power game tactics • Targeted drilling for individual weaknesses • Confidence building through match play scenarios • Preparing for open play or local tournaments (if desired) • Continued focus on fun, growth, and love for the game
Lesson 4-10Developing Skills • Cross-court dinking and transition play • Third shot drop introduction and drills • Volleys and basic net play techniques • Simple doubles positioning and teamwork • Game-like drills with coaching feedback • Serving variety (deep serve, targeting opponents) • Mental focus: learning to stay relaxed and confident under pressure
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2–3 will be about building confidence. • Reinforce fundamentals from lesson 1 (grip, positioning, and footwork) • Serve and return consistency drills • Introduction to dinking with control and purpose • Basic shot placement strategies • More machine drills for repetition and confidence • Short, coached rallies to apply skills in real play

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll start with a quick assessment so I can see your game in action—how you move, your shot selection, and where you’re strongest. From there, we’ll target specific areas to sharpen your skills. We’ll focus on high-level drills, situational play, and strategy that pushes you while keeping it fun. The goal is to leave you with a clear plan and a few things you can work on right away to level up your game.
Lesson 11+Now it’s all about fine-tuning and playing smarter. We’ll focus on: • Advanced shot selection and disguising your intentions • Transitioning from defense to offense • Drilling high-pressure scenarios • Mental game work—staying calm and making good decisions • Match play with detailed feedback between games • Tournament prep if you’re ready to compete
Lesson 4-10We’ll take what we’ve built and start applying it under real game pressure. These sessions focus on: • Mixing up patterns: dinks, drops, drives, and speed-ups • Doubles positioning and teamwork • Defending against aggressive players and countering effectively • Reading opponents and choosing smart shots • Match play with coaching between points • Targeted drills for any weak spots we find along the way
Lesson 2-3We’ll dig into the areas we spotted in the first session. That might mean dialing in your third-shot drops, working on speed-ups at the kitchen, or tightening up your footwork. We’ll run focused drills, add in live-ball situations, and start mixing strategy into point play. The goal is to build confidence in the patterns and shots you’ll use most in real matches.

Youth players
Working with teenagersI like working with teens because it’s about more than just hitting the ball. I focus on the basics, keep things fun, and help them build confidence as they go. We’ll move at their pace, mix in games and drills, and make sure they leave the court feeling good about what they learned. My goal is simple: help them enjoy pickleball and want to come back for more.

What you need to bringPlease bring a paddle of your choice (if you have one), plenty of water, electrolytes if you like, sunscreen, and a towel or two. A small snack is helpful for longer sessions. Most importantly, bring a willingness to learn, practice, and have fun!

What I can bringI bring several teaching tools to make learning effective and fun. I have a pickleball machine for focused drills, plenty of pickleballs, and even an extra paddle if needed. I also have access to a private court, which means you’ll get plenty of dedicated time to practice without distractions.
