I signed my 9 year old up for private lessons with Selina in January. We invited 2 of her buddies to join the lessons to keep them engaged and having fun together. The two girls had no experience with a racket sport. My kiddo had previously taken tennis lessons.
We are 4 months in and the girls are having a blast! They have all shown improvement and are just as engaged in learning as they were on day one.
Selina is fun, patient and encouraging while being professional. I appreciate that she starts with a quick warm-up, does drills and has the girls playing as if it were a real game to teach them how to keep score.
Chicken and Pickle is a great venue but Selina is the icing on the cake! I think everyone, young and old can benefit from lessons, whether it’s to learn, brush up on your skills, hone in on your form or correct bad habits you never knew you had!
My child is learning a life skill that she can take with her throughout life. I won’t have to worry about her making friends if she moves anywhere in the world [at any age] because there’s a Pickleball League she can join to have an immediate connection!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn your first lesson, you'll learn basic techniques for hitting a groundstroke and serve, game strategy, court position, fundamental game terminology, and how to score. No prior sports experience is needed to enjoy the exciting game of pickleball. My main goal is for you to have fun and leave eager to play again!
Lesson 11+At this point you’ll be confident with scoring and game strategy. we'll concentrate on mastering the first five key shots in the game, giving you the confidence and skills needed for both recreational and competitive play. I’ll introduce specialized shots to add more strategy to your game. Each lesson will be tailored to your unique needs and skill level, ensuring a personalized approach to your development
Lesson 4-10SCORING ! As we progress through our lessons together, you'll be introduced to a variety of shots, including volleys, dinks, overhead smashes, drops/resets, and more! We'll build on your strengths and begin to turn any weaknesses into new strengths using fun drills. You'll have a solid skill set to enjoy recreational games and have a blast with other like-minded players. Dominating at the net is key to building confidence of the game and winning matches.
Lesson 2-3In the next few lessons, we'll practice SCORING .. i have a great method of learning how to score !
we’ll also explore more aspects of the game, including shot selection from mid-court and close to the net. You'll begin to understand WHY you should hit certain shots and the importance of your position on the court to benefit you and your partner. Above all, we'll focus on positioning and helping you move safely on the court while ensuring you continue having fun!
