My first lesson with Shea topped all other private lessons I've had. I was familiar with Shea because I really enjoyed some drills that he set up for me a few months prior that have continued to work for my game. He asked me the evening before to let him know what I wanted to work on and we worked on those three areas during the lesson. Shea does an exceptional job of explaining what we're going to do, how it will help me improve and then how it will all come together to improve my skills in serving, volleying in the kitchen and repeatedly setting up to put myself in the best position to place the ball in ways that will challenge my opponent or at least put them off their game. Shea listens well and made the lesson very fun and productive. I'm looking forward to our next 13 lessons and am super confident that I'll keep improving.

Shea was great! We learned a lot of new, very helpful tips, especially on our serving, positioning/stances, and overall game strategy.

Coach Shea, is Professional and has a natural ability for teaching. It also helps that he is very patient. He's improved my game! I'm looking forward to my next session.

Beginner training plan
Your first lesson-Introduction to scoring, court lines, rules, etc. -Grip and Stance: work on continental grip, proper footwork when hitting different shots. -Dinking basics: go over non-volley zone (kitchen). Explain dinking, practice dinking back and forth trying to get to 5-10 consistent dinks. -Serves: I will teach the proper serve technique and we will drill the serve focusing on consistency and placement. -Mini game: at the end we will play a mini game putting together everything you learned.
Lesson 11+-Advanced skill work. Offensive strategies working on aiming for sidelines and proper timing for doing so as well as attacking short balls. Drilling to simulate fast-paced rallies. -Defensive strategies: work on resetting hard shots into the kitchen. Working on developing fast hands for hands battles at the kitchen like. -Doubles strategies: work on teamwork and communication and transitioning effectively after serving. -Match play: match play with coaching and feedback. Video feedback available as well.
Lesson 4-10-Warm up: dinking -Third shot drops: explaining the reason for the 3rd shot drop. Showing the technique of the third shot drop. Drill the third shot drop. -Groundstrokes and Drives: Introducing the technique for a forehand and backhand drive and then drilling the forehand and backhand drive. - Defensive skills: Practice resetting and blocking from the midcourt. -Team play and court coverage: learn positioning and communication for doubles. Drill simulated doubles rallies focusing on court coverage. -Game play: play games to put everything together.
Lesson 2-3We will focus on building core skills. Here is an example of lessons 2-3: Skill development: dinking progressions, playing mini games with dinking adding more movement to dinking. Serve and Return: Practice serves (focusing on depth and accuracy) practice consistent returns with an emphasis on pushing opponents back. Volleys: learning proper volley technique, drilling volleys with mini games. Mini games: putting together everything learned in the lesson with a couple mini games.
