Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI start by walking new players through basic rules, scoring, positioning of players, the flow of the game, and the basics of pickleball strategy. Next I demonstrate a basic serve and students attempt 10 to 20 practice serves. We then play a game a couple of games where all of the above is reinforced. By the end of this 2 hour session the student has a solid foundation for playing a pickleball game!
Lesson 2-3Students are generally most interested in review and practice of the fundamentals learned in the first lesson. We starte with additional practice on serves and returns and then go back into game play with coaching after (and sometimes during!) each point. The game play with realtime coaching feedback is a fun and effective way to solidify a players foundation and position them for advanced techniques.
Lesson 4-10These lessons can be customized depending on a stundents area of interest but typically involve introduction to various techniques such as dinks, drops, volleys, flicks, rolls, lobs, and backhand shots.
Begin introducing drills that students can use on their own to improve their skills.
Lesson 11+These lessons would focus on fine tuning of the above: footwork, proper body\court positioning, review and adjustments to the mechanics of the stroke.
Introduce additional drills that students can use to further improve and revine their skills
