Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI go over basic singing posture and breathing first, and then we do some excercises to help you and myself get familiar with your voice. Song options are also discussed at this point, but I find the folk song "Danny Boy" to be a good starting point for most beginners.
Lesson 11+By now, you should have the basic fundamentals of singing down, and around this period is where we start thinking about style specialization. I teach all students through the lense of basic classical vocal technique, and while that will still be a foundation, as we move forward, we may diverge into more popular/commercial styles.
Lesson 4-10More of the same from lessons 2-3. By the fifth or sixth lesson, we may do a memory test on on a song we're working on. A new song may be started by week 10
Lesson 2-3We begin work on our selected repertoire and continue excercises to improve technique, stretch our vocal range, and improve breath support

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe begin by getting a foundation of your voice first through warm-ups and exercises. Then, if you have brought in any repertoire to work with, we can look at that. Ideally, this will be sent before the first lesson.
Lesson 11+By this point, we should have a new song or two in our cycle, and we'll just repeat the same process.
Lesson 4-10By week four, it is expected that you have at least some of your repertoire memorized, so the first memory test will be in the fourth lesson. As we continue, we may look into new repertoire as well. More importantly, it is during this stage were we start looking at interpretation.
Lesson 2-3We begin working on your selected song or songs and really dive in, studying the rhythms, melody, phrasing, and in some cases, the language

Youth players
Working with kidsWith kids, I often take a more game based approach at times in addition to looking at repertoire suited for their age. The important part of these lessons is to have fun and develop a love of music.

Working with teenagersI teach teens similarly to how I teach adults just with age appropriate repertoire. Depending on the student, this may be a more performance based course.

What you need to bringBring your copies of the music, any songbooks you may have, water, and a pencil

What I can bringI typically bring my laptop, printed copies of the music we're working on, and pencils.
