Beginner training plan
Your first trainingAssessment & Fundamentals: We start with a 10-minute dynamic warmup to evaluate overall mobility and coordination. Core Skills Evaluation: I run the player through light ball-feeling drills like "Toe Taps," "Tick-Tocks" (foundational ball mastery), and simple 5-yard push passes using the inside of the foot. Goal: Establish a baseline of technical skill, assess fitness level, build rapport, and set clear goals while keeping the session fun and engaging.
Training 2-3Building Technical Confidence: We transition into structured footwork using agility ladders combined with 1-on-1 passing gates. Key Drills: "Cone Slaloms" to practice dribbling with both the inside and outside of both feet, and "Pass & Move" drills to teach immediate movement after releasing the ball. Goal: Improve dynamic touch, refine body positioning when receiving, and build spatial control under mild pressure.
Training 4-10Advanced Mechanics & Game Intelligence: We expand into high-energy, functional game scenarios. Key Drills: "1v1 Attacking & Defending" gates to build confidence taking on players, "Target Shooting" off the turn, and dynamic "Give-and-Go" passing combinations. Goal: Develop multi-directional agility, sharp decision-making, power and accuracy on the strike, and high match-level fitness.
Training 11+Mastery & Tactical Execution: We shift from foundational mechanics to high-speed decision making, position-specific training, and full game-speed execution. Key Drills: "Overload 1v1 / 2v1 Scenarios" to master game intelligence under pressure, "First-Touch Under Stress" using high-velocity passes and rebounders, and "Shooting Under Fatigue" to sharpen dynamic finishing off the dribble or on the volley. Goal: Elevate physical conditioning to match peak competitive standards, refine subtle positional mechanics (e.g., wing play, central midfield distribution, or defensive jockeying), and build an unstoppable, confident mindset on match day.

Advanced training plan
Your first trainingHigh-Performance Assessment & Baseline: Dynamic warm-up evaluating functional mobility, joint stability, and acceleration. Evaluation Drills: High-speed scanning drills, first-touch efficiency under pressure, and directional distribution accuracy using both feet. Goal: Benchmark current technical limits, review match-play footage or goals, and build an individualized development plan.
Training 2-3Technical Precision & First-Touch Mastery: Eliminating extra touches and maximizing execution speed. Key Drills: Rebounder receiving out of the air under physical pressure, directional body-shape turns, and weighted non-dominant foot distribution. Goal: Master receiving on the half-turn and escaping tight high-pressing traps cleanly.
Training 4-10Position-Specific Mechanics & Tactical IQ: Translating elite technique into realistic match scenarios. Key Drills: 1v1 isolated attacking/defending at top speed, line-breaking passes into dynamic movement, and transition finishing off multi-directional sprints. Goal: Develop rapid decision-making, master positional responsibilities, and execute high-percentage plays under physical fatigue.
Training 11+Elite Match-Speed & Tactical Mastery: High-intensity sessions mimicking top-level academy and collegiate standards. Key Drills: Overload transition scenarios (2v1, 3v2), finishing under high-impact physical contact, and game-specific tactical breakdowns. Goal: Build dominant physical conditioning, sharp tactical instincts, and an elite match-day mindset that translates directly to game performance.

Youth players
Working with kids1. Play-Based Skill Building Gamified Drills: Replace repetitive drills with competitive mini-games (e.g., turning a basic dribbling drill into "Pac-Man" or "Red Light, Green Light" to teach ball control and stopping on command). High Touches, Low Waiting: Design setups where kids are constantly moving and touching the ball rather than standing in long lines. 2. Simplified & Visual Coaching Bite-Sized Instructions: Keep explanations under 30 seconds. Show them what to do visually rather than giving long verbal instructions. Analogy-Based Cues: Use easy-to-remember cues (e.g., "dribble like you're gluing the ball to your sneaker" or "strike the ball with your laces like a rocket"). 3. Positive Reinforcement & Energy Focus on Effort & Progress: Praise specific actions like trying a hard move with their non-dominant foot rather than just focusing on the score or result. High Energy & Patience: Keep session energy upbeat, celebrate small wins, and adapt quickly if a child starts losing energy or focus. 4. Age-Appropriate Equipment & Safety Right Gear: Use lighter, properly sized soccer balls (Size 3 for under 8 years old; Size 4 for ages 8–12) to protect their joints and build correct technique without straining. Frequent Hydration & Rest: Build in quick water breaks to keep stamina and attention high.

Working with teenagersTreat Them Like Athletes, Not Kids: Shift from gamified exercises to high-intensity, functional drills that mirror real match scenarios. Explain the why behind every drill so they understand how it directly improves their game. Focus on Speed of Thought & Tactical IQ: Teenagers already have basic mechanics down, so the focus shifts to decision-making under pressure. Use small-sided games (e.g., 2v2s, 3v2 counter-attacks) that force quick scanning, positional awareness, and rapid transitions. Match-Pace & Physical Conditioning: Integrate functional strength, core stability, and agility directly into ball work. Drills should feature realistic physical contact, dynamic acceleration, and finishing under fatigue. Constructive, Direct Feedback: Teens respond best to direct, encouraging coaching. Set high expectations, give precise tactical corrections, and empower them to analyze their own mistakes during breaks. Position-Specific Refinement: Tailor drills to their primary positionsβ€”whether that means fine-tuning a winger's 1v1 take-ons, a midfielder's directional first touch, or a defender's body orientation while jockeying.

What you need to bringCleats or turf shoes suitable for grass/synthetic fields Shin guards (required for safety during drills) Properly sized soccer ball (Size 3 for ages under 8, Size 4 for ages 8–12, Size 5 for ages 13+) Water bottle or hydration drink Athletic wear (comfortable jersey/shirt, athletic shorts, and long socks)

What I can bringPremium size 4 and size 5 match/training soccer balls, Disc cones, tall marker cones, and field boundary lines Speed and agility equipment (agility ladder, hurdles, resistance bands) Mini pop-up goals and passing target nets Colored pinnies/scrimmage vests for drills Rebounder nets for first-touch and passing repetition.
