First get to know them, teach them the proper stretches to prevent injuries and simple cone footwork to get them used to drills and become more comfortable with there feet, as well as some dribbling and turning.
Now it’s motivating, it’s all about letting them know mistakes are fine and it happens to everyone, effort is amazing, we will now move on to doing more reps, some condition work, knowing the limit for them & putting everything together in a big drill that will end in either a defending or finishing point (depending on players position), making sure this is all fun and still productive at the same time! I’m here for it all!
Now it’s about adding all that plus defending, attacking, and making the speed of all the drills a little bit faster every-time, we can now run more drills with more reps, coordinating ur feet when defending and concentrating on ur footwork when dribbling, overall this helps someone get way more comfortable and used to the ball with the more repetitions.
Now we can work on short passes and slowly advance to a bit longer, focus on the accuracy and speed, while adding the dribbling and footwork/cone-work, we’ll start to see progress without putting to much pressure or stress, easing up and feeling confident with reps is important!
Ask them what they think there strong assets are and what they think there weak assets are, challenge them but also get them comfortable and more reps with what they like while still focusing on what they can improve on.
Putting all that together, now after more sessions you should be comfortable with the ball and know what ur strong at, also know what you can improve therefore we focus on that more now, we add in all the technique, ball awareness, turns, space, & start to focus on little details, repetition is key, we make a drill of all this with adding some finishing/crossing towards the end for final product, as well as defending, knowing when to step, coordinating your feet work, I’m here to grow someone who is interested as a player, soccer is my passion and if it is for you too, I’m here to help the most I can!
Ball awareness, checking ur shoulder, decision making, knowing when to turn, when to play fast, when to slow it down & when to change directions.
Lots of touches and technique work, working on making ur feet fast while still maintaining every rep good, the key is to still perform at a high level even when your tired, that’s when it matters the most.
