Beginner training plan
Your first trainingMy approach to the first lesson with a beginner is to create a positive, comfortable, and enjoyable environment while getting to know the player’s personality, experience, and goals. I focus on building confidence through simple activities, introducing fundamental techniques, and making the player feel successful from the beginning. The first lesson is about establishing trust, having fun, and creating a foundation for future development.
Training 2-3 A beginner can expect the second and third lessons to build progressively on the foundation established in the first session:
* Second lesson: We begin reinforcing the basic techniques introduced in the first lesson, while adding new challenges. The focus is on improving ball control, passing, dribbling, coordination, and confidence through fun, age-appropriate exercises.
* Third lesson: We start connecting technical skills to simple game situations. The player will be encouraged to make decisions, recognize space, and apply their skills under light pressure. The goal is to develop not only technique, but also understanding, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.
Overall: Each lesson is progressive and personalized. I want beginners to leave every session feeling that they learned something new, improved, and are excited to come back for the next lesson.
Training 4-10From the fourth through the tenth lesson, beginners can expect a more progressive and structured approach to their development. Building on the foundation established during the first three lessons, I gradually introduce greater challenges while keeping the training positive, engaging, and appropriate for their level.
Players will continue developing their ball mastery, dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, coordination, and movement, while beginning to apply these skills in more realistic game situations. As they become more comfortable, I introduce decision-making, changes of direction, 1v1 situations, creating and finding space, and playing under increasing levels of pressure.
By lessons 8–10, the goal is for the player to demonstrate greater confidence, independence, and understanding of the game. I also begin identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement so that future sessions can become increasingly personalized.
Most importantly, my objective is for every beginner to see measurable progress, develop confidence with the ball, and build a genuine enjoyment and passion for soccer.
