About your soccer coach

I’m a youth soccer coach with a passion for developing players both on and off the field. I currently coach at a competitive soccer club and hold a USSF D coaching license, with ongoing coach education. My approach is focused on fundamentals, confidence, and making the game enjoyable for every player.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFocus on assessment and fun. Begin with light warm-ups, basic ball control (dribbling in a square, toe touches), and passing drills. End with a short fun game. The goal is to observe the player’s comfort with the ball and build confidence.
Lesson 11+Focus on game-like scenarios: positioning, transitions (offense to defense and vice versa), maintaining possession under pressure. Players should now be challenged with higher intensity drills, conditioning work, and realistic scrimmages. Customize sessions based on each player’s strengths and weaknesses.
Lesson 4-10Add more complexity to drills: change of direction while dribbling, short and long passing, basic tactical understanding (spacing, support play, off-the-ball movement). Start teaching defensive positioning, 1v1 defending, and ball recovery. Use small-sided games (3v3 or 4v4) to simulate match scenarios. Also introduce agility ladders, cone drills, and finishing under pressure.
Lesson 2-3Continue building fundamentals: passing and receiving with both feet, dribbling under pressure, and basic shooting form. Introduce small-sided 1v1 or 2v2 games to improve decision-making.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonIn the first session, I assess the player’s technical and tactical level through advanced drills like rondos, small-sided games, and position-specific exercises. I observe decision-making, technique under pressure, and overall game awareness.
Lesson 11+Focus on high-performance preparation. Simulate match conditions, conduct position-specific training, and provide mental preparation strategies. Goal: prepare the player for top-level competition.
Lesson 4-10Build consistency in execution through game-like scenarios, pattern play, and video analysis (if applicable). Emphasize leadership, communication, and adaptability within team dynamics.
Lesson 2-3Focus on refining technique and introducing advanced tactical concepts such as pressing, transition play, and movement off the ball. Sessions are intense and tailored to the player’s position and goals.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids, I focus on making the sessions fun, simple, and active. I use games and engaging activities to teach basic skills and keep them motivated. Positive reinforcement is key to help build confidence and love for the game.

Working with teenagersWith teenagers, I balance technical development with tactical understanding. I promote teamwork, communication, and discipline while ensuring the sessions remain enjoyable and challenging.

What you need to bringStudents should bring soccer cleats or turf shoes, a water bottle, and appropriate sportswear. Bringing their own ball is recommended but not required.

What I can bringI can provide soccer balls, cones, pinnies (training vests), and a small pop-up goal. I may also bring an agility ladder and a first aid kit when needed.
