The lesson with Ranai was quite helpful, especially focusing on footwork, which really improved my control on the ball. Though I think a bit more instruction on footwork would make future lessons even more effective. Still, I feel like I learned useful techniques to incorporate into my training and can’t wait to build on them. If you're interested in sharpening your footwork, I’d say give Ranai a try.

I’d say the lesson with Ranai was quite helpful, especially in refining some of my ball control techniques. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first session is focused on evaluation and getting to know the player. I’ll assess their current skill level through basic drills and activities to identify strengths and areas that need improvement. Just as important, I’ll observe how they respond to different types of instruction to understand which teaching style suits them best—whether they learn better through demonstration, verbal explanation, or hands-on correction. This helps me create a personalized development plan that’s both effective and engaging for the player.

Lesson 4-10
Great! Here’s how you can continue your beginner lesson plan section with lessons 4 and beyond, focusing on ongoing development and progress tracking: --- Lessons 4 and Beyond: Progression & Consistency After establishing goals and working on initial improvements, the focus shifts to building consistency, confidence, and gradually introducing more advanced concepts. These sessions are designed to reinforce fundamentals while layering in decision-making, spatial awareness, and real-game scenarios (1v1s, passing patterns, small-sided games, etc.). I continuously track progress through performance in drills, player feedback, and video analysis (if available). Based on this, I adapt the training to keep the player challenged and motivated. I also regularly revisit the short- and long-term goals, adjusting them as needed to reflect growth and keep the player striving toward their full potential. The ultimate goal is to help each player become not only technically and physically stronger, but also smarter and more confident in how they approach the game.
Lesson 2-3In the second and third sessions, we’ll begin targeted work on the key areas identified during the initial assessment—whether that’s ball control, passing, positioning, or overall confidence on the field. These lessons are designed to build a solid foundation and start seeing measurable improvement early on. During this phase, I’ll also guide the player in setting both a short-term goal (e.g., improving weak foot control, mastering a basic move, or increasing fitness) and a long-term goal (e.g., making a team, becoming a more complete player, or improving game awareness). These goals help create focus and motivation, and I’ll structure our sessions with those objectives in mind to make sure we stay on track and keep the player progressing.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with younger players, the focus shifts toward creating a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate learning environment. At this stage, it's important to prioritize basic motor skills, coordination, and a love for the game over complex tactics or intense technical drills. I adapt my lesson plans by using games-based learning and simplified drills that teach core concepts like dribbling, passing, and shooting in a playful, energetic way. Sessions are highly interactive and filled with positive reinforcement to keep attention high and confidence growing. Instead of formal goal-setting, I introduce small, achievable challenges (e.g., “Can you dribble past the cones without touching them?”) and celebrate progress visually and verbally. I also stay flexible, adjusting the pace based on their energy and mood, while maintaining structure to build discipline and routine. Above all, my goal with younger players is to lay a strong foundation of skills, sportsmanship, and enjoyment so they stay motivated and excited to keep learning and playing.
