Your first lessonHow to properly grip the softball.
How to funnel the ball: field ground balls with a tennis ball then move to easy fly balls to work on centering their body.
Footwork: lining up with target after fielding the ball
Handbrake: ensure that the palm stays on top of the ball when transitioning to the throw
Shoulder pinch/tilt before the throw
Follow through: work on throwing from different angles and finding what angle is most comfortable
Lesson 11+Continue throwing and basic batting.
Begin more position specific drills (if they know what position they want)
Further develop throwing velocity, accuracy, and hitting percentage.
Incorporate different pitches to give the ability to hit any pitch
Build confidence and consistency in their technique
Lesson 4-10Continue working on batting and throwing.
Begin drills to field ground and fly balls.
Once comfortable, begin throwing to a target/base.
Begin base running techniques: rounding the corners instead of 90° turns
Lesson 2-3Refresh the throwing learned in the first lesson.
Then move on to batting.
Hand positioning on the bat.
Foot and arm positioning
Form: knees bent, elbow up, feet spaced apart
Transitioning weight to back leg
Swing and follow through: ensure the swing isn’t dropping and their form follows
Practice correct form and swing
End with throwing for accuracy instead of speed
