I signed my son Mateo up for a surf lesson not really knowing what to expect, but I was blown away. The instructor ran the session with real professionalism, organized, calm, and clearly experienced. He didn’t rush anything and made sure Mateo understood each step before moving on.
What stood out most was how well he connected with my son. Mateo can be a little shy, but within minutes he was laughing, asking questions, and fully engaged. The progress he made in just one lesson was incredible. He went from never touching a surfboard to riding small waves with confidence.
The whole experience felt safe, structured, and genuinely fun. Mateo is already asking when he can go back, and I’m more than happy to sign him up again. Excellent instructor and an awesome experience. Highly recommend!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFor the first lesson, I focus on keeping things fun, safe, and stress-free. We start on the beach going over basic ocean safety, board handling, and pop-up technique. I make sure the student understands how to fall safely and stay comfortable in the water. Once we move into the ocean, I give light pushes into small waves so they can get that first-ride feeling right away. The goal is confidence and having a great first experience.
Lesson 11+Lessons 11+ are about taking the student from “beginner” to “developing intermediate.” At this stage, we refine technique, improve wave selection, and focus on paddling strength and efficiency. Students practice catching waves completely on their own, linking turns, and starting to understand positioning in the lineup. I also introduce reading surf conditions, surf ethics, and how to adjust to different boards and breaks. The goal for this stage is consistency—helping them feel comfortable surfing independently in a variety of conditions.
Lesson 4-10By lessons 4–10, beginners start becoming true surfers. We focus on stronger paddling, catching waves on their own, and choosing the right waves. I introduce basic turning, trimming, speed control, and understanding surf etiquette. Students gradually move to slightly bigger waves as they improve. My goal during this stage is to help them become confident, safe, and fully independent in the lineup.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2–3 build off the basics. We practice smoother pop-ups, better balance, and reading the waves more confidently. I start giving less push-assist and more coaching on timing and paddling. Students begin learning how to control their board, turn slightly, and feel more independent in the water. These lessons are all about repetition, comfort, and steady progress.
