Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson always depends on your current skill level! We will evaluate what you know about swimming so far and then dive into the ways we can improve or coach you to get the biggest gains! Most often, this includes adjusting form in a specific stroke for more intermediate and advanced swimmers, drills, and breath control for younger swimmers or a combination of both!
Lesson 11+Remaining lessons will focus on bringing it all together into a full swim program including swimming IMs. We will dial in on specific goals like practicing for open water swimming, or races, diet, and even military swim tests. Any goal specific work will begin here.
Lesson 4-10A beginner can expect to widen their knowledge of the sport and begin to learn different strokes beyond the typical freestyle. We focus on developing breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly. We will break these down into their components, i.e., dolphin kick, etc. In order to piece together all the strokes. Diving and breath work begins.
Lesson 2-3In lesson two, we have a plan, and our audit of your skills has been completed in the first lesson. We will begin to enhance techniques and drills to get to a certain goal. Like making the swim team, passing a lifeguard swim test, training for sprints or endurance, etc. With younger students, we aim to learn to swim safely and effectively.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids, we focus on water safety first and foremost, then swimming freestyle and then breastbone and butterfly with the five diving progressions. I have taught infants, toddlers, and school-age children 5-12, which I would approach each slightly differently and with different goals. Typically, these lessons are 30-45 minutes with 60 minutes reserved for students with special needs or advanced young swimmers that have the endurance and maturity for a full session. I have experience with 13 months+ and have also worked with regional centers and students with ASD.

Working with teenagersYouth 13+ we will approach like a swim club/team program. We will begin with swim level and technique evaluation and then begin to progress through the four strokes while incorporating diving, flip turns, treading water, and if relevant race strategy. We are aiming to develop a well-rounded athlete. If the goal is military or lifeguard qualifications, we will adjust the program to that end goal.

What you need to bringProper swim attire πŸ‘Œ for students interested in competing, appropriate racing swim attire, not leisure swim suits. Goggles. Swim caps are optional, but long hair must be out of the way or tied. Sunscreen. Water and/or electrolyte drinks.

What I can bringKickboard, Buoys, spare googles, noodles, pool diving toys, toddlers, and infant toys.
