Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn your first beginner tennis lesson, expect a focus on fundamentals. You’ll start with a light warm-up and dynamic stretches, then learn how to hold the racket using basic grips like the Eastern or Continental. The coach will teach forehand and backhand strokes through hand-fed drills and short-court rallies. You’ll also practice footwork and positioning. Toward the end, you’ll be introduced to the serve using simplified motions. The session ends with a cool-down and feedback. The goal is to build comfort, coordination, and confidence while making it fun and engaging. No prior experience is needed—just bring energy and focus
Lesson 11+focus shifts to advanced consistency, shot variety (slices, lobs), and match strategy. You’ll work on positioning, depth, directional control, and building points. Serve and return become more tactical. Expect regular match play, video analysis, and mental training. The goal is to transition from beginner to competitive player.
Lesson 4-10refine stroke technique, add topspin, improve footwork, and develop consistency. Sessions include full-court rallies, point play, serve placement, and return practice. You’ll learn net play, basic strategy, and scoring. By lesson 10, you’ll be rallying confidently, serving, and playing structured points with improved control and court awareness.
Lesson 2-3build on basic strokes with more consistent forehands, backhands, and footwork drills. You’ll start rallying from the baseline, learn volleys at the net, and practice simple serving. Focus shifts to timing, control, and movement. Expect fun rally games and steady progress in coordination and confidence.
