Coach Bodie is very positive and works to help you improve your tennis game. Coach Bodie knows each player and what their strength and what areas of your game need improvement. He spends time during your lesson working on both so you become a better player. Coach Bodie taught my child how to volley and place the ball better on the court. It made a huge difference with his game. I would recommend Coach Bodie to anyone. He is such a positive coach and has a great background to help any player improve their tennis game and meet their individual needs. He cares and wants his players to feel successful on the tennis court. His positive coaching style will be helpful to anyone who takes lessons from him.

Tennis can be an intimidating sport with all of the footwork and techniques required and I think coach Bodie has always made me feel like improving was possible through encouragement and training! He helped me succeed in sets and in being a coordinated teammate. Coach Bodie is excellent at explaining the thorough techniques of tennis and radiates positivity! He’s extremely supportive and always has the love for the game win or lose!! He is a great coach. There’s not very many like him!!

Coach Bodie has a way of encouraging his students in a positive manner while also expressing positive feedback. He does an amazing job at walking through each step and showing what points to hit in order to execute the perfect hit. He connects with his students on a professional level but also making his lessons feel like learning with a good friend. His positivity and good feedback lead to success. Coach Bodie helped make my son’s forehand and backhand hits a lot more powerful. With this improvement I was noticing an improvement on win percentage. Bodie creates a positive environment that makes learning enjoyable. Improvement comes quick with Bodie as your coach. Bodie is truly the best!

I always loved how flexible Coach Bodie was! I felt like I had a lot of control over what I wanted to do during practices and lessons, which was absolutely great for improving my game as much as I could. Bodie’s optimism and encouragement are OUTSTANDING! He brings so much energy and love for the sport, and it definitely inspired me to do the same. Because of Coach Bodie, I felt a lot more confident with my topspin. At the time, my forehand definitely needed some work and with his help, he really helped me nail the technique, just in time for the season! Coach Bodie is truly a dedicated individual to not only tennis, but to helping others, and it really shows! I’love never forget how much he genuinely loved and cared for me and my other teammates both on and off the court. From the little things like fist bumps after a drill, to his unwavering positivity and motivation from the outside the court during sets, he never fails to make tennis such a joy for everyone around him! Coach Bodie is the GOAT! Never take him for granted!!!

I appreciated that Coach Bodie genuinely cares about each and every one of his students and it shows through his coaching. Coach Bodie's unique strengths are definitely confidence in what he is teaching his students, the ability to adapt if something isn't working right for a certain player, and certainly his biggest strength is being a people person. You can tell based off of the first day you meet him, he is there to make a connection and teach. He loves what he does and it shows all throughout his work. There wasn't one day where I was upset to see Coach Bodie. I honestly treated Coach Bodie as more of a best friend than a coach some days, and it made the experience so much more fun. He was literally my #1 fan on and off the court and he wants to get to know each and every one of his players! I'm so grateful I was able to see him my last 2 seasons in tennis! Coach Bodie is the best! I truly don't know what I would've done without his support.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonMy first priority is always to put a new student at ease. I’l begin by introducing myself, then asking a few questions about their goals, athletic background, and any prior experience with Tennis. Once they’re comfortabe, we’ll do a short warm-up and then jump right into some light rallying so I can obsere their movement, timing, and overall skill level From there, I’ll introduce the foundational shots every player needs, using a mix of drills and mini-games to keep things fun and engaging. Each lesson ends with clear “homework” to practice before the next session. Above all, my goal is to connect with the student, make learning fun, and set a strong foundation for their Tennis journey.
Lesson 11+Once the fundamentals of Tennis are established, lessons 11 and beyond will shift toward refining technique, learning advanced shots, and improving strategy through live match play. We’ll focus on shot selection, anticipation, court positioning, and communication with partners. Every session will include tailored coaching to address individual strengths and weaknesses, plus more structured game play to simulate real match situations. At this point, the student is not just learning how to play Tennis, they’re learning how to play it well, how to think better and better on the court, and how to have more fun as they sharpen their skills and gain experience.
Lesson 4-10As students gain confidence, lessons 4 through 10 will focus on being able to keep the ball in play and introduce basic strategy and best practices. We’ll build consistency in baseline rallies using their forehand and backhand, and begin to introduce serving as well as how to volley at the net. Each lesson will include skill-appropriate drills as well as fun games so that students can immediately practice and apply what they learn. By the end of this stage, students will not only understand the flow of how Tennis works, but also begin to understand basic strategies to use when they go and practice on their own.
Lesson 2-3In the second and third lessons, we'll continue building the fundamentals of the game while keeping the focus on fun. Here, I'll introduce the basics of grips (how to hold the racket for different shots) and strokes (forehand, backhand, volley, and serve). I will also begin teaching them how to keep score and where to stand on the court. We'll move at a very simple pace, using repetition, drills, and guided play to help the student feel the natural rhythm of a real game. Since Tennis scoring and positioning can be confusing at first, these lessons are all about giving the student confidence to rally, play short games, and start feeling like they belong on the court.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids, the emphasis is on keeping the lessons active, playful, and easy to understand. I simplify the rules, shorten the games, and use fun drills that feel like challenges rather than technical practice. The focus is less on perfect form and more on developing hand-eye coordination, learning the basic strokes, and building excitement for the game. By celebrating small wins and keeping the pace upbeat, kids stay engaged while naturally picking up the fundamentals of Tennis.

Working with teenagersWith teenagers, I adapt the lessons to balance fun with skill-building at a slightly faster pace. Teens often enjoy competition, so I introduce more game-based drills and encourage friendly match play as soon as possible. While fundamentals are still central, I also emphasize strategy, teamwork, and confidence so they can feel successful playing with peers and adults. The goal is to challenge them enough to stay motivated while making sure the learning environment remains positive, supportive, and fun.

What you need to bringYour own tennis racket (unless you don’t have one yet), water, towel, sunscreen, hat, teachable spirit
