Passionate USPTA Certified Tennis Coach with an extensive teaching journey spanning 30 years. My diverse coaching experience covers everyone from beginners and high-performance junior players to high school/college players, adults, and seniors. My tennis journey began as a top-rated junior in the Pacific Northwest, and I went on to earn national rankings in both singles and doubles during my college years in Division 1 play. My mission is to share my love for tennis and help people develop a life-long interest in the sport through positive and effective instruction. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonYou’re first lesson we will discuss your goals. Are you looking to play casually or competitively. What is your background with sports? Have you played tennis before? We will assess where you are currently at with your game and go over forehands and backhand technique. We will also practice footwork and moving to the ball.
Lesson 11+We will continue with groundstrokes, volleys and serves. Introduce different spins and positions on the court for singles and doubles play. We also discuss strategies and how to handle different types of play against opponents.
Lesson 4-10Lesson 4-10 we will continue with groundstrokes and how to aim the ball. Introduce overheads and serves and how to keep score.
Lesson 2-3Lesson 2 & 3 we will continue with forehand and backhand technique and review footwork. Start rallying and introduce the volley.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe will access your current skill level and revisit and perfect foundational skills as needed. We will ensure strokes, footwork and serves are precise and consistent. Finally we will conduct a thorough assessment of your current play to tailor lessons to your needs.
Lesson 11+Finally we will improve your mental game with techniques to improve focus., resilience and strategic thinking during matches. We will continue to refine your play with drills and video analysis to consistently improve your game to the next level.
Lesson 4-10We discuss advanced strategies for both singles and doubles, focusing on court positioning, shot placement and opponent analysis. We will do drills and practice matches to simulate competitive conditions and improve your game under pressure.
Lesson 2-3We will practice advanced shots such as kick serves, drop shots, swinging volleys and slice to ensure a well rounded game. We will also work on shot selection and situational play to enhance your tactical decision making on the court.

Youth players
Working with kidsAccess goals. Use age appropriate balls and equipment provided by coach Jen. Have fun!!

Working with teenagersAccess goals. Encourage competitive play for tournament and or high-school/college play. Work on technique and game strategy.

What you need to bringA good pair of tennis shoes. Don't have a racquet? No problem. I have adult and kids racquets. 🎾

What I can bringI have everything needed for your lesson. Age appropriate racquets and tennis balls, teaching tools, leaf blower, broom, and even a portable light in case it gets dark out. Just bring yourself and a pair of shoes you can move in. πŸ˜‰

And if you simply want to reschedule your lesson, change the date and time, or adjust the number of students joining, we've got you covered there too. You can easily make these changes within 24 hours of booking, and up to 72 hours before your lesson starts.
